As a student on the Employer Experience team, you will work alongside experienced Specialists, apply your analytical skills and build strong working relationships within Pensions. Your work contributes directly to ensuring employer administrators report correct and timely information so that OMERS members can make informed decisions about their pension.
What you’ll get as an Employer Experience Student:
- Hands-on, real-world work experience in pension administration at one of Canada's largest pension plans.
- An opportunity to develop practical skills in transactional processing, data review and written digital communications such as e-Correspondence and email.
- Mentorship and coaching from experienced Employer Experience Specialists and leaders.
- A structured onboarding and training program to build your pension knowledge and confidence with our systems and processes.
- Exposure to how OMERS supports 1,000+ Employers in Ontario throughout their administrative journey, and insight into potential career paths in Pensions.
As an Employer Experience Student, you will:
- Be provided with a comprehensive learning curriculum to build your pension knowledge.
- Support the team with transactional processing, including annual reconciliation (119) work.
- Develop an understanding of how the OMERS pension plans are administered to provide accurate and timely processing support.
- Review and validate Employer submissions and data, applying sound judgement and a high degree of accuracy.
- Process transactions by effectively utilizing pension administration systems and other related OMERS technology.
- Perform written follow-ups with Employers through e-Correspondence and email for missing or incomplete information.
- Analyze data to identify issues and escalate them to the appropriate team members to problem solve.
- Be flexible to take on additional tasks and special projects, which may include assisting other teams, as required.
- Meet productivity and quality standards for assigned processing work.
- Share ideas to streamline processes and help the team work more effectively to better serve our Employers.
- Work collaboratively with peers by sharing information and communicating in an open, honest, and professional manner.
- Uphold and demonstrate OMERS vision and core values while developing a good rapport with internal teams.
To apply, you will need:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or a related field, and eligible for a student or co-op work term.
- Strong written communication skills and technical savvy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to personal development and continuous learning.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- High integrity and discretion to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Previous experience in an office, administrative or data entry role would be considered an asset.
You may also be eligible to receive an annual Incentive Award pursuant to our Short-term Incentive plan and our Long-Term Incentive plan (if applicable), and to participate in our group benefits and retirement plans – details on these elements of compensation are included within OMERS & Oxford offer letters.
