Original job description

The role

ONBOX is looking for a designer with strong visual instincts and a genuine love of craft - someone who thinks in systems, sweats the details, and is ready to work on projects that demand the best of them. You’ve spent a few years developing your eye. Now you’re ready for projects that demand everything you’ve got.

You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team of designers and strategists who lead with ideas and care deeply about how they come to life. You’ll work directly with our Creative Director on brand and digital projects that demand both strategic thinking and strong craft. Everyone’s involved, everyone’s accountable, and the work is better for it.

What you’ll do

Design complete brand identity systems - logos, typography, colour, and the broader visual language
Lead the design of websites and digital experiences, from early concepts through to refined UI
Translate brand thinking into web design that feels cohesive across every touchpoint
Contribute ideas early, helping shape project direction before moving into execution
Present your thinking clearly to the team and, progressively, to clients
Work closely with strategy and development to ensure the work translates thoughtfully into the final product
Contribute to a culture of craft - sharing what you’re learning, giving good feedback, and raising the bar for everyone

[@portabletext/react] Unknown block type "horizontalRule", specify a component for it in the `components.types` prop

What we're looking for

3–5 years of design experience in a studio, agency, or strong in-house team
A portfolio that shows taste, thinking, and craft - strong identities and well-considered digital work
Strong visual judgement - typography, layout, composition, and cohesive design systems
The ability to articulate ideas clearly, defend design decisions, and evolve work through feedback
Confidence working independently while collaborating closely within a small creative team

Bonus points for experience with Framer, Webflow, motion, Emerging AI or prototyping tools.

Why ONBOX

We're small by choice, not by accident. That means you'll know everyone, influence decisions, and ship work for clients that genuinely move the needle - billion-dollar companies, public figures, e-commerce leaders. The kind of work that defines careers, not just portfolios.

Our Work Is Guided By Our Values

Better Yet. We believe great work comes from constant improvement. Every project is an opportunity to refine our thinking, push past “good,” and create something better - for our clients and for ourselves.

Collaborate and Listen. Great ideas rarely happen in isolation. We work openly with our teammates and clients, valuing different perspectives and building the best solutions together.

Make It Count. Every project is an opportunity to make an impact. We approach the work with ambition, curiosity, and a willingness to push boundaries so the final result truly matters.

Benefits

Hybrid Work: Four days in our Vancouver studio, one day remote per week
Vacation: 10 days in your first year, 15 days after two years, and 20 days after three - plus the studio closes over the Christmas and New Year period
Health Spending Account: health and wellness coverage that matters to you and increses over time.
Professional Development: An annual budget to put toward courses, conferences, books, or tools that help you grow

Compensation

Pay range: $60K–$90K, based on experience and skills. The upper end is reserved for candidates who bring exceptional, directly transferable expertise.

How to apply

Send your resume, a cover letter, and a link to your portfolio to jobs@onboxcreative.com.
