Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java / C++ Developer to join our team in Montréal. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and enhancement of a strategic, custom-built platform supporting activities in a global capital-markets environment.
This role combines hands-on software engineering with close collaboration across technology and business teams. The developer will help deliver reliable, scalable and maintainable solutions while contributing to the platform’s ongoing modernization and operational resilience.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain features.
- Build high-quality, scalable and maintainable software using Java and C++.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis and technical design through testing, deployment and production support.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA teams, developers and production-support stakeholders across regions.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, technical reviews and code reviews.
- Investigate defects and production issues, identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes.
- Improve application performance, reliability, observability and maintainability.
- Contribute to CI/CD practices, release activities and continuous improvement within the development team.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and communicate progress, risks and dependencies clearly.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional software-development experience in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on development experience with Java and C++.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms and software-engineering best practices.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience working in Linux or Unix environments.
- Experience designing, integrating or supporting distributed systems and APIs.
- Ability to write clean, testable and well-documented code.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams.
- Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in investment banking, capital markets or financial-services technology.
- Knowledge of Prime Services, Prime Brokerage, equities, financing, securities lending, clearing or the trade lifecycle.
- Experience with messaging technologies, event-driven architectures or high-volume transaction-processing systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevOps practices and containerized environments.
- Experience supporting business-critical trading, risk, financing or post-trade applications.
- Exposure to global delivery models and follow-the-sun collaboration.
