ON GROUP OF COMPANIES

Sales Lead

Advertising Placements

Founding commercial hire · Across Ontario · Independent contractor · 100% commission, uncapped

Who we are

ON Group is an Ontario directory business. We build the places homeowners go when they need someone local: the agent who knows the municipality, the waterproofer who has been under houses on that street, the plumber and electrician who actually cover the area.

A national brand wins local work by outspending everyone in town. Independent operators cannot match that budget and should not have to, because they are better at the work and they know the ground. We put them in front of the people looking for them.

Real estate leads. Waterproofing, plumbing and electrical are behind it, and more verticals follow.

The opportunity

This is a presentation selling opportunity. You get in front of agents, teams, and brokerages, present to the room, and close before people leave. Not a dialler seat. A car, a calendar of sales-meeting slots, and a presentation you own.

One meeting can produce several sales. A brokerage sales meeting puts twenty or thirty agents in a room, all of them working ground you are selling. You present once and write several contracts, which is why this role pays what it does on a modest number of appointments. If you prefer one on one meetings, then that's what you book.

You will not be handed a finished sales motion. You customize our deck for your pitch: the deck, the objection handling, the way you get onto a manager’s agenda.

You report to the CEO. That is the whole reporting line. Ask for a decision and you get it the same day.

What you would earn

No base. Everything you earn, you close.

  • 20% of the placement fee on every sale, uncapped, from the first deal, renewals paid at full rate. No threshold, no gate.
  • Multi-year terms commission year by year, so each year of a long contract pays again.
  • Equity is discussed on promotion to manager.

Term length and area count are the biggest variable in what you take home. Five years on the same areas is worth five times one year, and each area added is worth more for the same conversation in the same room.

What you would do

  • Get on the agenda. Brokerage and team meetings run weekly. Booking two or three a week is the real work, and it is relationship work, not dialling.
  • Present to the room and close in it. Own the deck, the demonstration, the objection handling.
  • Sell the term, not just the placement.
  • Work out where a business actually operates before deciding which areas to put in front of it.
  • Walk new advertisers through supplying their listing specifications so their placements can go live.
  • Keep clean records and an honest forecast, and report the market, and what the real objection is underneath the stated one.

About you

A seasoned field closer, not a first sales job.

  • You have presented to groups and closed in the room, in front of twenty-five sceptical professionals.
  • You have sold advertising, media or another intangible to owner-operators, without leads handed to you.
  • You have closed multi-year commitments and know how to make a longer term feel like the buyer’s idea.
  • Commission-only suits you, either because you have done it before or because a cap somewhere else held you back.
  • You open your own doors. Getting onto a manager’s agenda from a standing start is month one.
  • You would rather lose a deal than overstate one. A room is where it is easiest to oversell, and we do not. We make no promises about leads or results, and we do not improvise a price.

Experience selling into real estate or a regulated trade helps. It is not required.

Hiring process

A 20-minute introductory call. Then 45 minutes with the CEO, including a short presentation exercise and feedback. Then a final discussion of your plan for the first ninety days.
