To confidentially explore this opportunity, please email your resume, quoting the appropriate position title, to Judy Mandelman or Heather Spiegel, at resumes@promeus.ca.resumes@promeus.ca.
The Position
The Executive Vice President, Provincial Clinical Programs (EVP) provides strategic and operational leadership across the two Ontario Health clinical portfolios: Acute and Hospital-Based Care (AHBC) and Primary and Community-Based Care (PCBC). Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the EVP leads a broad provincial clinical mandate focused on integrating and coordinating care delivery across the continuum and improving access, quality, equity, patient and provider experiences, and ultimately the health outcomes of Ontarians.
The role works in a ‘double dyad’ model in close partnership with the EVP, AHBC and Chief Medical Executive, and the EVP, PCBC and Chief Medical Information Officer. Together, these three executive leaders establish clinical strategy, priorities, and delivery plans, with the EVP responsible for translating those priorities into coordinated execution through the portfolio Vice Presidents and their teams.
The mandate extends across cancer, renal, cardiac, stroke, vascular, transplant, laboratory medicine, diagnostic imaging, critical care, mental health and addictions, primary care, community care, and other provincial clinical programs. A central opportunity for the EVP is to connect specialty and hospital-based care more effectively with primary and community care, extending evidence-informed standards, pathways, and models of care across the full patient journey.
The role connects provincial program development and oversight with regional implementation, ensuring that clinical priorities, models of care, standards, and initiatives are coordinated across Ontario Health and aligned with Ministry of Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care direction. Working closely with Chief Regional Officers, government, providers, and corporate services leaders, the EVP establishes clear delivery commitments, aligns resources and capabilities with priorities, and drives accountability for results.
The Person
The ideal candidate is an accomplished healthcare executive with the breadth, judgment, and operational capability to lead a large and diverse provincial clinical portfolio. They bring a strong record of translating strategy into delivery, managing complex programs and resources, and achieving measurable improvements in care and system performance.
They understand the full continuum of care and can build credibility with academic health sciences centres and specialty programs, as well as primary care providers, community agencies, and mental health and addictions organizations. They appreciate the different operating realities, resources, and capabilities across these settings and can bring partners together around shared clinical and system goals.
A strategic and analytically strong leader, they can assess organizational capacity, establish priorities, and make difficult choices in a constrained environment. They understand how government and publicly accountable organizations operate and can present practical options, navigate funding and approval requirements, and align expectations with achievable outcomes.
They are comfortable working in close partnership with senior clinical executives, sharing responsibility for portfolio success while bringing clear operational leadership. They lead through others, empower capable Vice Presidents, and set clear expectations for performance, maintaining strategic oversight while knowing when more direct involvement is required.
To confidentially explore this opportunity, please email your resume, quoting the appropriate position title, to Judy Mandelman or Heather Spiegel, at resumes@promeus.ca.resumes@promeus.ca.
