Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Principal Solution Architect.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture, this position is responsible to Architect and deliver a scalable, automated target-state digital landscape for post-modernization DNNP work, replacing retiring Asset Site 9 and paper-based procedures with well-documented best-practice designs and support processes that reduce manual administrative effort and ensure changes are implemented reliably end-to-end.

Key Accountabilities

Support network infrastructure and connectivity by working with routing, DNS, load balancing, and wireless technologies - including cellular, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, and near-field communication - to enable reliable deployment and operation of digital tools and connected devices.
Coordinate hybrid technology environments across cloud and on-premises data centres, supporting solution deployment, integration, performance, and ongoing operational requirements.
Embed cybersecurity and risk controls into digital solutions by supporting firewall management, security monitoring, intrusion prevention, and zero-trust architecture considerations throughout deployment and sustainment.
Enable enterprise system integration and digital processes through SAP platforms and related enterprise solutions, supporting secure data exchange and interoperable workflows across project and operational environments.
Support radiation protection digital solutions by maintaining and integrating systems, technologies, and monitoring processes related to dosimetry and radiation protection programs.
Enable monitoring, diagnostics, and data-driven decisions through the use of sensors, monitoring devices, and associated technologies that provide system visibility, data collection, and operational insight.
Support digital work execution and operational intelligence tools - including Aviva Connect, Aviva Predictive Analytics, digital workflows, dynamic instructions, and AI-enabled enterprise tools - to improve information access, predictive insights, field execution, and task completion.
Support engineering information and design workflows by working with engineering software, including the Hexagon product suite, to enable design collaboration, engineering data management, and integration with broader digital systems.

Qualifications

4-Year University Education in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems
Requires over 10 years and up to 12 years of progressive experience in business and technology architecture, designing and delivering secure, governed, and scalable enterprise IT solutions - including cloud, microservices, APIs, integration patterns, operating models, technology roadmaps, and architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and ArchiMate - to address complex business challenges
Post-secondary education in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience with enterprise network and connectivity technologies, including routing, DNS, load balancing, and wireless solutions such as cellular, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, and near-field communication.
Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments, including solution deployment, systems integration, performance monitoring, and operational sustainment.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and controls, including firewalls, security monitoring, intrusion prevention, identity and access management, and zero-trust architecture.
Experience integrating enterprise applications and digital platforms, preferably including SAP, engineering information systems such as the Hexagon product suite, and digital workflow or work execution tools.
Experience working with operational technology, monitoring systems, sensors, diagnostics, or specialized digital solutions, with the ability to apply data, predictive analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve operational decision-making and field execution.

Important Information

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.
