Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Rotating Equipment & Predictive Maintenance Engineer.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager Engineering, Mechanical Components, the Rotating Equipment & Predictive Maintenance Engineer supports the safe, reliable operation of nuclear station equipment through condition monitoring, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement of pumps, motors, compressors, and fans. The role provides engineering support for maintenance, design changes, outage activities, procurement, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with nuclear safety, licensing, and configuration-control requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Evaluate predictive-maintenance data - including vibration, oil, thermography, and ultrasound - to support the reliable operation of nuclear station equipment.
Provide engineering support for the safe commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of safety-related and balance-of-plant rotating equipment.
Diagnose performance and reliability issues affecting pumps, motors, compressors, and fans, and recommend technically sound corrective actions.
Develop and maintain station procedures, instructions, and technical documentation in accordance with licensing requirements, nuclear safety standards, and engineering governance.
Support technical specifications, procurement activities, qualification of materials and services, and spare-parts strategies for rotating equipment.
Apply station design-change, work-management, outage, project, and field-execution processes while maintaining configuration control and nuclear safety focus.
Identify reliability improvements, operating-experience opportunities, and research initiatives; prepare technical reports and support workforce training and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of five years of relevant engineering experience in a nuclear power plant or similarly regulated, high-reliability industrial environment.
Technical knowledge of rotating equipment - including pumps, motors, compressors, fans, bearings, seals, couplings, and supporting systems.
Experience evaluating predictive-maintenance and inspection results, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and NDT. Industry recognized certifications (Vibration ISO Cat II/III; Oil Analysis MLA-1/2) are preferred.
Working knowledge of industry standards and recognized best practices for the design, inspection, maintenance, and reliability of rotating equipment.
Familiarity with nuclear station requirements for safety, quality assurance, licensing, configuration management, design change, work management, project development, outage execution, and field work.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment issues; evaluate repair, replacement, or continued-service options; and develop technically defensible reliability-improvement recommendations.
Strong ability to prepare engineering evaluations, technical specifications, procedures, procurement documentation, and reports, while collaborating effectively with operations, maintenance, projects, supply chain, and external service providers.
Professional Engineer license in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain registration with Professional Engineers Ontario.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
