A Day in the Life

As an Intermediate Geoscientist within our Groundwater, Mining & Infrastructure Team, based out of our Guelph or Oakville, Ontario office, you will support groundwater resource, mine water management, environmental permitting, infrastructure dewatering, and hydrogeological characterization projects for clients across Canada. You will contribute technical expertise to groundwater investigations, aquifer testing, dewatering assessments, mine closure planning, water management planning, and regulatory approvals throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and environmental assessment through construction, operations, and closure.

The compensation range for this role is $35.00 to $45.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

· Design and execute hydrogeological investigations including drilling programs, monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling, slug testing, and pumping tests.

· Conduct groundwater resource evaluations, groundwater impact assessments, hydrogeological conceptual model development, and water balance assessments.

· Support water supply investigations and water taking (PTTW) applications.

· Contribute to water balance modeling and water management plans for active and closed mine sites

· Support environmental assessment and permitting work under the federal Impact Assessment Act, provincial Environmental Assessment Act processes, and Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs)

· Support construction and infrastructure dewatering assessments, groundwater inflow evaluations, and discharge management programs.

· Assist with Fisheries Act and Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulations (MDMER) compliance monitoring and reporting

· Support field programs including groundwater and surface water monitoring, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical/hydrogeological drilling oversight

· Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory submissions for mining, infrastructure, municipal, and industrial clients.

· Liaise with clients, regulators, contractors, and Indigenous communities on environmental and water management matters.

· Support business development activities within the mining sector, including proposal preparation and capability development

· A minimum of 4+ years of experience in hydrogeological consulting, groundwater resources, mining environmental services, infrastructure dewatering, or related environmental consulting.

· Practical experience with ARD/ML characterization methods, including static and kinetic geochemical testing programs.

· Experience designing and implementing groundwater monitoring programs, aquifer testing programs, and groundwater sampling investigations.

· Experience with hydrogeological characterization, groundwater flow interpretation, and conceptual site model development.

· Working knowledge of the Ontario Water Resources Act, Permit to Take Water requirements, O. Reg. 903 Wells Regulation, and related groundwater regulations.
