Currently we are seeking a Project Manager to drive client-based Professional Services engagements within our Cloud, Data & AI group - including cloud migration and modernization, data engineering and governance, analytics, and AI/GenAI readiness and adoption programs.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a PMP-certified Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing small to enterprise-sized Cloud, Data & AI professional services engagements, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, at high quality, and in a way that exceeds client expectations. You will act equally in a relationship-management capacity, cultivating and growing client relationships while actively managing program-level engagements across the AI and data lifecycle - from strategy and assessment through implementation and transition to managed operations.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Project Management
- Create required project schedules and manage to baseline for all assigned cloud, data, and AI engagements.
- Identify resources needed - cloud architects/engineers, data engineers, AI/ML specialists, security, and OEM/vendor partners - and assign individual responsibilities; review required allocations against baseline schedules and raise constraints before conflicts arise.
- Define and manage baseline budgets with a focus on avoiding variances, including engagement financials, forecasting, and margin tracking.
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope, including multi-phase engagements (e.g., assessment, roadmap, design/build, migration, go-live, and transition to managed services).
- Review the quality of deliverables prepared by the team before passing to the client, including technical artifacts produced by cloud, data, and AI specialists.
- Effectively apply the OnX project delivery methodology and enforce project standards, applying Agile delivery practices as the default approach and predictive/hybrid methods where the engagement requires it.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies - sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives - and manage the delivery backlog for all engagements run under Agile or hybrid models.
- Coordinate with security, compliance, and data governance stakeholders to ensure requirements are addressed before go-live, particularly for clients in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government, education).
- Minimize OnX exposure and risk on the project, maintaining detailed risk registers and contingency plans.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Manage client expectations and work effectively with various levels of client and OnX management, including executive stakeholders.
- Understand how to communicate difficult or sensitive information tactfully.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities (e.g., influence, motivate).
- Deliver engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations, including executive status reporting on progress, risks, milestones, and resource requirements.
- Display a strong understanding of program management, actively managing interdependencies between related cloud, data, and AI workstreams and client projects.
- Effectively manage simultaneous enterprise-wide projects.
- Be an excellent communicator with strong presentation and leadership skills, results-oriented, adaptable to change, and an exceptional problem solver - able to translate technical cloud, data, and AI concepts for both technical and business stakeholders.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- PMP certified (or equivalent, e.g., PMI-ACP, PRINCE2) with a minimum of 7–10 years of direct project/program management experience, including experience delivering cloud, data, analytics, or AI/ML engagements.
- Demonstrated experience managing cloud migration and modernization projects across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or hybrid and multi-cloud environments; AWS or Azure certifications (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals) are an asset.
- Experience managing data engineering, data architecture, analytics/BI, or data governance engagements, with familiarity with modern, cloud-native data platforms.
- Exposure to AI or GenAI project delivery - such as AI readiness/maturity assessments, AI strategy roadmaps, model deployment, MLOps, or AI governance frameworks - is strongly preferred.
- Required: proven experience delivering projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies, including hands-on experience running ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives; active Scrum Master (CSM/PSM) or PMI-ACP certification required, with the ability to run hybrid Agile/Waterfall delivery depending on engagement needs.
- Superior oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to focus the message and clear ambiguity in any situation.
- Strong vendor and OEM relationship management skills (e.g., AWS, Microsoft, HPE, Cisco, Dell) consistently applied to ensure contracts are honored and work is executed to plan.
- Strong working experience managing teams of IT and business professionals within a matrix organization to implement enterprise cloud, data, and AI initiatives.
- Experience managing a variety of professional services engagements, interfacing with client stakeholders at all levels, including in regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, government, and education.
- Experience in client relationship management, fostering trust among client stakeholders and effectively managing program-level engagements.
- Superior budget management skills, ensuring both internal and external partner resources execute to baseline plan and variances are avoided through proactive analysis.
- Exposure to and working knowledge of a professional services automation (PSA) tool such as FinancialForce PSA or equivalent.
- Proficient using MS Project and familiar with collaborative delivery tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, or similar.
- Excellent client-facing and team management skills, working collaboratively with employees, vendors, and senior client stakeholders.
- Excellent working knowledge of project management methodology and the software/data/AI development life cycle.
- Solid understanding of various types of contractual agreements such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements, Master Services Agreements, and Statements of Work.
