Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, the Financial Analyst is responsible for providing accurate financial, statistical and related business analysis and reports. Prepares budgets and financial forecasts, including forecasting cash flows to appropriately plan borrowing requirements. Plans and organizes individual activities to ensure information and data is delivered in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to plan for and manage change within the role and organization.
The expected base salary range of this position is $82,000 – $92,000 CAD. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position based in our U.S. and Canada office locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by various factors including location, job-related skills, relevant experience, education, formal training, and internal equity.
Accountabilities
- Prepares various monthly management reports and analyzes company key performance metrics. Develops reports and presentations as required.
- Maintains key accounting and financial-related support systems models and databases. Conducts related business and statistical analysis in accordance with department requirements.
- Performs a variety of information and data analysis activities to support financial forecasting and planning.
- Prepares quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets, ensuring deadlines are being met. Liaises with various departments and stakeholders to gather and compile needed data.
- Assists in preparing cash flow forecasts every two weeks to identify explanations of variances from previous forecasts.
- Prepares monthly grower risk reporting for growers with loans to ensure report accurately reflects current risk position and estimated end of season position.
- Analyzes business processes to design budget improvements and better model forecasts, using tools such as Excel and/or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
- Participates in or leads assigned forecasting projects, monitoring deliverables to meet project requirements and established deadlines.
Required Knowledge & Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of the concepts, standards, practices and tools of accounting, finance and data warehouse systems, and data business analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of department and company accounting and finance programs and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of process improvement projects, continuous improvement initiatives and project management.
- Strong organization skills; ability to prioritize multiple demands in a timely manner.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively to internal and external parties.
- Comfort with Microsoft Teams and Outlook; ability to handle a high volume of email.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Pivot tables, Power Query, VBA, linked workbooks, etc.
- Knowledge of SQL basics is desirable.
- Self-motivated with high standards; ability to work within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong evaluative and analytical skills; ability to problem solve and make appropriate business decisions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to learn during major times of change and support the organization through transitions.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree
- A thorough and strong understanding of accounting principles is required. A CPA, MBA, or equivalent years experience is necessary for success in the role
