Original job description
Marketing Manager
Marketing • 8–10 Years Experience • Calgary, AB • Hybrid • Full-Time, Permanent
Own the brand. Build the pipeline. Define the function.
Optiom is in an exciting phase of national growth. In this role, you will own the Optiom brand, bringing our newly defined brand identity to life across all dealer and broker-facing materials and touchpoints. You will run the national campaign calendar, build the campaigns and lead-development programmes that help our sales team win with dealer and broker partners across Canada, and plan and execute events from pre-event strategy through post-event follow-up.
This is a leadership role with real influence in the business. You will report directly to the Head of Marketing and direct a Marketing Coordinator who supports you day-to-day. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, bring ideas to the leadership table, and move from decision to execution without waiting for a fully mapped playbook. We work with a test-and-learn mindset: a great idea means nothing without great execution, and we move fast.
Who You Are
You are a senior B2B marketer who knows how to build a programme, not just run one. You have spent years marketing through channel partners - dealers, brokers, lenders, or comparable intermediaries - and you understand that moving a dealer principal or a broker to act requires a different approach than consumer advertising. You have built the campaigns that generate real pipeline, run the events that open real doors, and developed the sales tools that field teams actually use. You bring a point of view to the table and have the executive presence to defend it. Now you want a role where you own the brand, define the function, and build something that lasts.
You Bring
- 8–10 years of B2B marketing experience in an environment where channel partners - dealers, brokers, lenders, or comparable intermediaries - are the primary audience, with demonstrable ownership of campaigns, events, and sales enablement programmes
- A strategic thinker with a test-and-learn mindset who brings ideas to the table and executes them with discipline, from brief through to post-campaign analysis
- Executive presence: comfortable presenting to, advising, and challenging senior leaders when the evidence calls for it
- Proven experience planning and managing integrated campaigns and events at a national scale, with KPIs you owned end to end
- Hands-on sales enablement experience and a close working relationship with field sales teams - building materials that actually get used and programmes that actually generate leads
- Thought leadership experience, helping build a company's voice in its industry through content, speaking, or industry association engagement
- Experience directly leading or developing a junior team member, including setting expectations, giving feedback, and creating growth opportunities
- Highly organized and self-directed: manages many priorities at once, moves forward through ambiguity, and does not need a fully defined playbook to start building
- Strong written and verbal communication across executive presentations, channel-facing content, and internal cross-functional alignment
- A degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience
Bonus Points For
- Insurance, automotive finance, or financial services experience - especially in a dealer or broker distribution model; if you know how an F&I product gets presented at a dealership, that matters here
- Marketing automation platform experience (HubSpot, Marketo, or equivalent) with active campaign build and workflow ownership, not just reporting access
- Platform certifications: Google Ads, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot Marketing, or similar
- Experience inside a company going through a brand refresh or repositioning in a channel-distribution model
- Bilingual English/French
What We Offer
- Eligibility for Optiom's Bonus Program
- A comprehensive group benefits plan, including medical, dental, vision, and EAP
- Three weeks' vacation to start, increasing with tenure
- Employer-supported professional development, including platform certification support
- A hybrid work model, with flexibility between home and our Calgary office
Who We Are
Optiom helps Canadians worry less about their financial position and lifestyle when it comes to the benefits provided by traditional auto insurance. We take a customer-centric approach and provide greater value to Canadian drivers through our total loss vehicle replacement products and additional benefits. We are a team of specialists who take pride in what we build and how we serve. Our products protect Canadians in moments that matter, and our people are the reason our broker and dealer partners trust us.
