FINANCIAL ANALYST

FULL-TIME | PERMANENT

TORONTO, ON

Our client is an established Canadian organization providing professional services, programs, and resources to its community. With a collaborative and professional working environment, the organization is focused on strengthening its financial planning, reporting, and data capabilities to support informed decision-making and continued organizational development.

They are seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Finance team and provide meaningful financial insights while supporting budgeting, forecasting, reporting, business planning, and the continued improvement of financial systems and processes.

The Job!

As the Financial Analyst, you will transform financial and non-financial data into clear, actionable insights that support organizational decision-making. Working closely with management and departmental leaders, you will contribute to financial planning, forecasting, reporting, modelling, and business analysis while helping strengthen the systems and data that support the organization's finance function.

Coordinate annual departmental budgeting, periodic and rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial outlooks in partnership with management and team leads.
Develop and maintain driver-based financial models across multiple revenue and expenditure areas.
Perform sensitivity, scenario, and what-if analyses to evaluate changes in demand, pricing, timing, staffing, program delivery, and other business assumptions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, year-end, and ad hoc financial and operational reports, dashboards, and management reporting packages.
Complete budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analyses, identifying key drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
Assist with financial reports, variance reporting, budget memoranda, and departmental explanations used in Board and committee materials.
Partner with management and departmental leaders to review financial performance, investigate variances, update forecasts, and identify appropriate follow-up actions.
Support evidence-based spending requests, business cases, and resource-allocation proposals aligned with organizational priorities.
Analyze financial and non-financial data to identify trends, relationships, anomalies, risks, and opportunities while clearly communicating the story behind the numbers.
Develop benchmarks, ratios, unit economics, and key performance indicators to support performance measurement and strategic planning.
Prepare written analyses, data visualizations, and financial presentations that translate complex information into clear and actionable insights.
Support the optimization and integration of Sage Intacct, Intacct Planning, Salesforce, and other business and reporting systems.
Contribute to requirements gathering, data mapping, user acceptance testing, reconciliation, report validation, data-quality management, and post-implementation support.
Support data-transfer automation and integration across accounting, reporting, CRM, payroll, and other business applications.
Support the responsible adoption and integration of AI-enabled tools and technologies within finance and business-planning processes.
Monitor significant consulting, professional-services, and discretionary expenditures against approved budgets, contracts, deliverables, and expected benefits.
Prepare ROI, cost-benefit, payback, and value assessments to support business and investment decisions.

What You Bring to the Job

You are an analytical, detail-oriented finance professional who can move comfortably between financial data and the broader business context. You understand how to challenge assumptions, identify trends and risks, and translate complex financial information into practical recommendations that help stakeholders make informed decisions.

University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
At least 3 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, finance business partnering, or a related function.
Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, scenario modelling, and management reporting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, lookups, pivot tables, scenario analysis, data validation, data visualization, and dashboard development.
Experience developing financial and management reports using Sage Intacct or comparable cloud ERP/reporting software.
Experience working with financial reporting structures, dimensions, dashboards, and report-writing functionality.
Experience supporting integrations between accounting, reporting, or budgeting systems and Salesforce or another CRM/association management system is considered an asset.
Ability to integrate and interpret financial and non-financial data while maintaining clear documentation of sources, assumptions, definitions, and methodologies.
Strong understanding of financial modelling and the ability to conduct sensitivity, scenario, and what-if analyses.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify financial and operational risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Understanding of internal controls, data governance, privacy requirements, audit trails, and role-based access principles.
Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
Experience within a not-for-profit, professional association, or member-based organization is considered an asset.
Progress toward a CPA, CFA, CBV, or relevant analytics designation is considered an asset.
