About The Role – Product Support Technician (Maple Ridge BC)

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Product Support Technician within our Digital Solutions team focused on Orica’s proprietary geotechnical data visualization software (GeoExplorerIQ) and all associated types of geotechnical monitoring equipment manufactured/offered by Orica GeoSolutions.

This role will give you the exciting opportunity to support many local and international industry leaders with their complex geotechnical monitoring projects, such as open pit and underground mines, tailing storage facilities, hydro-electric dams, bridges, tunnels, etc.

Job Responsibilities include commissioning, troubleshooting, maintaining, decommissioning, and collecting data from all types of geotechnical instruments. These sites are located across Canada as well as other North and Central American countries.

What you will be doing

Working safely and following all WHS policies and procedures
Responding to customer support requests raised by ticket, email, or phone
Providing remote and on-site training for customers and internal teams
Assisting with commissioning and decommissioning of customer projects
Creating technical documentation (field reports, troubleshooting steps, FAQs, etc.)
Collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and other departments when needed

What you will bring

Strong work ethic, problem-solving capability, and passion for learning new things
General knowledge of geotechnical design/monitoring concepts, sensor types, datalogging equipment, telemetry, software, or similarly related information
Experience working with geotechnical monitoring equipment or related software (total stations, piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, settlement cells, etc.)
Ability to perform field visits to customer sites for conducting training, installation, and troubleshooting of any equipment. This requires you to be able to adhere to strict safety protocols and work outdoors in all weather conditions (-40°C to +40°C).

Preferred Assets Additional Information:

Bilingual English, and French or Spanish
Experience with products from the Orica GeoSolutions portfolio (RST/NavStar, Measurand, Syscom, 3vG, or GroundProbe)
Experience with products from industry competitors (Geokon, Campbell Scientific, Worldsensing, Sensemetrics, Canary, etc)
Programming knowledge (Python, Visual Basic, etc.) for advanced data analysis

Role dimensions

Travel: Customer sites for between 25-50% across Canada 90%, US, Mexico, and Central American countries.
Reporting: The Product Support Specialist reports to the Support Supervisor and compliments an existing team located in Canada, as well as various countries across the world.
Work Environment: This position requires you to be able to adhere to strict safety protocols and work outdoors in all weather conditions (-40°C to +40°C).

Education: Degree in Geotechnical, Geospatial, Geological, Mining, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical
Experience: 3+ years of experience with geotechnical design/monitoring, instrumentation, telemetry, electronics, construction, or similar disciplines

Compensation

Salary Range $68,752 to $88,000 CAD
When traveling, company paid travel expenses i.e. transportation, food, accommodations, plus a field service premium
Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan
