Original job description

Service Technician

Location: Manitoba

Reports to: Regional Manager

Service Area: Manitoba

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Perks: Monthly vehicle allowance, extended health benefits, company laptop and mobile phone

Who We Are

Pace Solutions is a Canadian-owned company focused on water and energy conservation across boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and closed-loop systems. For over 40 years, we have combined water chemistry, asset reliability practices, and practical service to help clients operate safer, more efficient, and more sustainable systems.

We believe strong technicians are built, not hired fully formed. That is why we invest in structured learning, hands-on experience, and long-term development through Pace Academy and industry education.

The Role

This Service Technician role is designed as a ground-up development path into water treatment and technical service at Pace Solutions.

You will initially spend the majority of your time, approximately 80%, performing hands-on service work in the field, learning our systems, service standards, and client environments. The remaining 20% of your time will support service operations through sample analysis, reporting, and coordination work that builds technical understanding and context.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to develop deep technical capability, understands that mastery comes from repetition and exposure, and is motivated to grow into higher technical responsibility over time. As technical capability and independence increase, the balance of field, diagnostic, and client-facing work will evolve.

Day-to-day technical guidance will come from senior technicians and technical representatives, with overall accountability held by the Regional Manager.

What You’ll DoField Service (Approximately 80%)

Perform routine water testing at client sites under established service programs.

Learn Pace service standards, safety practices, and system documentation.

Collect accurate water samples and perform on-site testing.

Observe, diagnose, and escalate system issues to senior technical staff.

Execute scheduled service visits efficiently and professionally.

Build familiarity with boilers, cooling towers, chillers, and closed-loop systems.

Service Support & Learning (Approximately 20%)

Analyze water samples and enter accurate results into reporting systems.

Assist with service reporting, documentation, and data trending.

Support scheduling and coordination of required service visits.

Collaborate with technical representatives and regional leadership.

Participate in Pace Academy training and industry learning opportunities.

What You Bring

Interest in developing a technical career in water treatment, mechanical systems, or industrial services.

Experience in water treatment is an asset.

Experience in commercial, industrial, HVAC, plumbing, or other hands-on technical environments is an asset.

Post-secondary education in science, engineering technology, or a related field is helpful but not required.

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn through hands-on work.

Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions.

Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Growth & Development

This role is intended to grow. As your technical knowledge, independence, and confidence increase, responsibilities will expand toward greater diagnostic ownership, client-facing work, and advanced technical problem-solving.

Pace supports this growth through structured training, mentorship, and industry certification pathways. Compensation progression is tied to skill development, certification milestones, and demonstrated independence.

Why This Role Matters

Our clients depend on consistent, accurate service and technicians who understand their systems deeply. By learning from the ground up, you will develop the technical judgment and confidence required to protect critical assets, reduce water and energy use, and support long-term client success.
