At Pacific Blue Cross, we're committed to improving health and wellbeing for British Columbians. As our Senior Manager, Total Rewards, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the programs and strategies that support our people and enable organizational success.

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you'll provide leadership across compensation, benefits, payroll, pension, and rewards programs while helping the organization navigate growth, transformation, and an evolving workforce landscape. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, requiring someone who can balance long-term planning with operational excellence.

We're seeking a trusted leader who brings deep expertise, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach. You'll work alongside a talented People & Culture team and partner with leaders across the organization to solve complex challenges, modernize practices, and build programs that support both business objectives and employee wellbeing.

Key Details

Position Title: Senior Manager, Total Rewards
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in the office and 2 days’ work from home
Office Location: 4250 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC V5G 4W6
Classification: Exempt
Salary Range: $122,400 - $183,600 ( Pacific Blue Cross’ compensation program is built on a pay-for-performance philosophy, rewarding both individual and organizational achievements. We determine starting salaries by considering a variety of factors, including relevant skills, education, experience, and internal equity, ensuring compensation decisions are consistent, equitable, and reflective of each candidate’s unique background and qualifications)
Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP bonus) per year based on performance: Up to 12%

Total Rewards Highlights:

Flexible working hours of 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday (i.e., 37.5 hours per week).
Paid vacation starts at 4 weeks per year and increases with years of service.
Generous benefits, including extended health, dental, and life insurance; depending on the plan that you choose, these benefit premiums can be 100% paid by PBC.
PBC contributes the equivalent of 8% of your base salary to a Defined Contribution pension plan. No employee contribution or matching is required, giving you more take-home pay

In This Position, You Will:

Lead the implementation of key Total Rewards initiatives, including the rollout of variable compensation programs, future salary structures, and benefit plan enhancements that support our evolving workforce.
Ensure organizational readiness for complex workforce matters, including collective bargaining preparation, pension governance activities, payroll compliance, and evolving legislative requirements.
Drive data-informed decision making by leveraging workforce analytics, market intelligence, and compensation insights to identify risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.
Strengthen operational excellence across Total Rewards, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve governance, and maximize the value of systems and technology investments.
Develop a high-performing team and culture, fostering collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and a shared commitment to exceptional service delivery.
Influence enterprise-wide people strategies, helping Pacific Blue Cross remain a competitive employer while supporting attraction, retention, succession planning, and employee engagement goals.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a major in Human Resources, Business Administration, or an equivalent relevant field including or supplemented by courses in leadership/supervision.
Excellent knowledge of relevant compensation and benefit regulations (e.g., Pay Transparency Act).
8 to 10 years of progressive leadership experience in human resources including 4 years of leadership experience in specifically in total rewards or compensation and benefits.
Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and Payroll systems (e.g., Workday).
Excellent project, budget, and change management skills.
Ability to turn organizational goals into strategic goals, tactical goals, and individual objectives

Demonstrated strategic and tactical thinking.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to solve complex problems.
Excellent listening, negotiation, and communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, and presentation).

Preferred Qualifications

Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, or equivalent.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), or other payroll-related certification.
WorldatWork designation(s) or coursework in compensation, benefits, executive compensation, or total rewards.
International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) designation(s), certification(s), or specialized training in employee benefits, pensions, and total rewards.
Experience overseeing payroll, benefits, pension administration, and regulatory compliance within a complex organizational environment
