Mechanical Reliability & Asset Integrity Lead

Department: Project & Engineering

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Saskatoon Office

Reporting To: Director, Engineering

Description

This is a career defining opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Reliability & Asset Integrity Lead to help shape one of Canada's newest uranium mining operations from the ground up.

Greenfield projects in this stage of development are rare in Saskatchewan. Even rarer is the opportunity to influence a project before construction begins and carry that work through commissioning and into operations. Rather than inheriting established maintenance systems, you will build them.

Reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Mechanical Reliability & Asset Integrity Lead will work closely with engineering, operations and project teams to influence equipment selection, plant design and maintenance philosophies during detailed engineering, with a focus on building an operation that is safe, reliable and maintainable for decades to come. As the project progresses into construction, you will lead the development of the site’s reliability and asset integrity programs, maintenance strategies, procedures and work management processes that will form the foundation of future operations.

As Patterson Lake South moves through commissioning and startup, you will transition from developing the systems to implementing them, building the maintenance organization, supporting operational readiness, and driving equipment reliability from day one. Your work will directly influence plant availability, asset performance, operating costs, and the long-term success of one of Saskatchewan’s newest uranium developments.

This role offers exceptional opportunities for professional growth and increasing leadership responsibility within a growing global uranium company. For someone passionate about reliability engineering, operational excellence, and building world-class maintenance systems, this is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy by creating the maintenance and asset integrity framework for a mine that will operate for decades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the Mechanical Reliability and Asset Integrity function from detailed engineering through construction, commissioning, startup, and into operations.
  • Influence detailed engineering by ensuring maintainability, reliability, lifecycle cost, and operational requirements are incorporated into equipment selection and plant design.
  • Develop the site's maintenance philosophy, reliability strategy, asset integrity framework, and long-term equipment lifecycle management programs.
  • Establish preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs that maximize equipment reliability, safety, and availability.
  • Lead the development of maintenance procedures, standard work instructions, work management processes, and operational readiness documentation before first production.
  • Develop equipment criticality assessments, maintenance strategies, inspection programs, lubrication programs, and spare parts philosophies for all major plant assets.
  • Build the CMMS maintenance framework, equipment hierarchy, maintenance plans, job plans, and master data to support efficient long-term maintenance execution.
  • Work closely with engineering, OEMs, construction, and commissioning teams to resolve reliability issues and optimize equipment performance before operational handover.
  • Support commissioning and startup by implementing reliability processes, monitoring equipment performance, eliminating early-life failures, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Build and mentor the future maintenance and reliability team while fostering a culture of safety, asset stewardship, and operational excellence.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and equipment troubleshooting.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in Saskatchewan is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical reliability, maintenance engineering, asset integrity, or fixed plant maintenance within mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience supporting greenfield projects, operational readiness, commissioning, or startup of major processing facilities is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience developing maintenance strategies, reliability programs, asset integrity systems, and maintenance procedures for complex industrial facilities.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles, including RCM, FMEA, RCFA, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Experience implementing or administering CMMS platforms (SAP, Pronto, IBM Maximo, or similar) and developing maintenance master data.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a dynamic project environment where systems, processes, and teams are being built from the ground up.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and annual incentive program.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health and dental coverage, a health spending account, and an RRSP matching program.
  • Opportunity to grow your career with a growing company as we advance a major Saskatchewan mining project.
  • Collaborative, supportive, and safety-focused culture where your contributions are valued.
  • Meaningful work supporting Indigenous and community relationships across Saskatchewan.
  • Contribute to the development of one of Saskatchewan's future mining operations.
