Original job description

Most resource geologists spend their careers focused on operations, limited commodities or portfolios. This opportunity offers something different.

Joining Palaris means becoming part of a team that advises mining companies, investors, private equity groups and major financial institutions on projects across the globe.

This role is particularly suited to geologists who enjoy seeing the bigger picture. You will apply your geological expertise to important commercial decisions while developing a broader understanding of mine economics, project valuation and investment risk.

Why this role?

You’ll help clients understand the technical strengths, risks and value drivers of mining assets, supporting investment and financing decisions across a global portfolio of projects. No two projects are ever the same, providing exposure to a diverse mix of commodities, jurisdictions and development stages where you will:

Work across technical due diligence, project valuation, resource reviews, mine economics and investment studies.
Develop a unique blend of geological, commercial and financial capability.

About Palaris

Palaris is an independent advisory firm to the mining sector. We work where decisions carry consequence supporting:

Resource companies (site and corporate)
Financial institutions and lenders
Equity investors

Our work sits at the intersection of technical insight and capital decisions, with a focus on clear, defensible judgement and practical optimisation.

What you will be doing

As a key member of the Minerals team, you will contribute to multidisciplinary projects that combine technical analysis with commercial insight.

Working alongside a range of technical specialists, you will help evaluate projects ranging from operating mines through to future development opportunities.

Your key responsibilities

Review resource and reserve estimates across multiple commodities.
Contribute to technical due diligence for project financing, acquisitions and transactions.
Support mine valuation and economic assessment work.
Assess technical risks and opportunities for lenders and investors.
Prepare concise technical reports and participate in presentations to a range of stakeholders.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a resource geologist who is technically capable, commercially curious and motivated to learn with:

Geology degree or equivalent qualification.
Strong mineral resource estimation and reporting experience.
Exposure across precious metals, base metals, critical minerals.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Interest in mine economics, project evaluation and finance.

You’ll stand out if you have:

Competent Person experience under JORC, NI 43-101 or equivalent.
Consulting experience.

What’s in it for you?

A 9-day fortnight and flexibility.
Competitive salary & bonus structure aligned to individual performance.
A Vancouver or Toronto based role with occasional travel.

Very few geologists have the opportunity to combine technical resource expertise with mine economics, valuation and investment advisory. This role will help you build capabilities that are highly valued across consulting, corporate development, investment and executive leadership pathways.

Interested?

If you are a technically strong resource geologist looking for a role working across project evaluations, mining studies, business cases and gaining exposure to financial modelling and technical due diligence, we would like to hear from you.

Why not reach out and have an initial conversation with Chris Anderson +61 2 4911 2218 or apply with your resume and a brief cover note.

Applicants must have permanent work rights for Canada. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
