Original job description

Are you an experienced Senior Architectural Technologist or Licensed Architect looking for greater autonomy, meaningful project responsibility, and opportunities to advance your career?

At Paradigm Architecture + Design, we’re looking for an accomplished architectural professional who is ready to take a leading role in delivering projects, contribute their expertise, and grow with an established Toronto practice.

ABOUT US

Paradigm Architecture + Design is an established, full-service architectural firm in Toronto with a 17-year track record of delivering innovative design solutions and exceptional client service.

Our diverse portfolio offers opportunities to work across a wide range of project types, scales, and technical challenges. As a collaborative, hands-on practice, we value initiative, independent thinking, and the experience our team members bring to the table.

We offer an environment where experienced professionals can take meaningful ownership of their work, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth and evolution of the firm.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Architectural Technologist or Licensed Architect with at least 10 years of professional experience and the technical expertise, judgment, and initiative to independently lead projects through design development, construction documentation, approvals, and construction.

This is an opportunity for a confident, self-directed professional who enjoys taking responsibility, solving complex technical challenges, and working directly with clients, consultants, and project teams.

Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, the position offers opportunities for expanding leadership responsibilities, mentoring colleagues, and playing an increasingly influential role in the practice as it continues to evolve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Leadership: Take ownership of assigned projects, managing technical deliverables, coordinating project teams, and maintaining schedules through multiple phases of design and construction.
Architectural Design & Documentation: Lead the development and coordination of architectural drawings, technical details, and comprehensive construction documentation using Revit.
Consultant & Client Coordination: Serve as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and coordinated project delivery.
Technical Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of building systems, construction methods, building envelope detailing, and cold-climate construction to develop practical, high-quality solutions.
Building Codes & Approvals: Coordinate permit applications and approvals, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code, municipal zoning requirements, and applicable regulations.
Construction Administration: Participate in field reviews, resolve technical issues, respond to construction inquiries, and support contract administration throughout construction.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues, foster collaboration, and contribute to the development of best practices within the firm.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for an experienced professional who combines strong technical capabilities with independent judgment, initiative, and a collaborative approach.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or diploma in Architectural Technology.
Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience within an architectural practice.
Advanced proficiency in Revit, including at least 5 years of professional experience developing and coordinating comprehensive construction documents.
Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, building systems, construction methods, and architectural detailing.
Demonstrated experience independently coordinating projects, managing consultants, and overseeing technical deliverables.
Experience with building permit submissions, construction documentation, and contract administration.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound professional judgment, and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Additional Assets:

OAA licensure or eligibility for registration.
Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing client relationships.
Demonstrated mentoring or team leadership experience.
Experience across multiple building types and project scales.

WHY JOIN PARADIGM?

We recognize that experienced architectural professionals are looking for more than simply their next project. We offer an opportunity to contribute, develop, and make a meaningful impact.

Autonomy & Ownership: Take responsibility for your projects and apply your professional expertise with a high degree of independence.
Diverse Project Experience: Expand your portfolio through exposure to a broad range of building types, project scales, and architectural challenges.
Career Development: Opportunities to take on greater responsibility, strengthen your leadership capabilities, and contribute to the firm’s long-term direction.
Collaborative Environment: Work directly with experienced professionals in a supportive team where your input and technical expertise are valued.
Hybrid Flexibility: Three days in the office and two days working from home each week, following an initial three-month in-office period.
Comprehensive Benefits: Company health benefits plan.

COMPENSATION

$90,000–$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and professional licensure.

HOW TO APPLY

If you’re an experienced architectural professional ready to take greater ownership of your work and contribute to the continued success of a growing practice, we’d welcome the opportunity to hear from you.

Qualified candidates will be invited for an interview and portfolio review. Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a practical Revit proficiency assessment at our Toronto office.
