Original job description

JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER

COORDINATE THE PROJECT. GROW THE CAREER.

Support planning, budgets, and site coordination while building toward a full Project Manager role.

Buildforth by Paradigm is hiring a Junior Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of residential and mixed-use construction projects. As the general contracting division of the Paradigm Group of Companies, Buildforth brings Paradigm’s innovative building technology to life on site - Future-Ready Homes. Built Today. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their construction career who wants to develop toward a full Project Manager role while working alongside experienced leaders.

You will take ownership of smaller residential and mixed-use construction projects, managing budgets, schedules, procurement, and site coordination while mentored closely by experienced Project Managers and the Director of Projects. This role requires regular travel to active project sites and offices throughout British Columbia, providing hands-on experience managing construction projects from pre-construction through completion.

AT A GLANCE

• Full-time, remote role. Monday to Friday, with a flexible schedule based on project needs.

• Regular travel to active construction sites throughout British Columbia

• A mix of project coordination, budget and schedule support, and site-based learning

• Reports to the Director of Projects, with mentorship from experienced Project Managers

• Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications

• Group benefits, RRSP matching, EAP, annual safety allowance, referral bonus program, and growth opportunities

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT

Own and lead smaller residential and mixed-use construction projects early in your career.

Learn directly from experienced Project Managers and the Director of Projects through hands-on mentorship.

Build a strong foundation for a Project Management career within a growing construction company.

Travel throughout British Columbia and build relationships with clients, trades, and project teams.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Lead all phases of project delivery for assigned smaller projects, from pre-construction through final completion, with mentorship from Project Managers and the Director of Projects.

Develop and manage budgets, schedules, scopes of work, and subcontracts for assigned projects.

Oversee procurement processes and help ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

Track milestones, critical paths, and deliverables, and flag risks to the Director of Projects.

Direct site teams, subcontractors, and consultants on assigned projects, with support from senior Project Managers.

Collaborate with design, engineering, and fabrication teams to align project objectives.

Coordinate between fabrication and site teams to support seamless project execution.

Track project budgets, forecast costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities on assigned projects.

Review invoices, change orders, and progress claims for accuracy, escalating for approval as required.

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and internal teams on assigned projects.

Lead project meetings and ensure effective communication across stakeholders.

Maintain accurate project records, reports, and documentation.

Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies, with input from the Director of Projects.

Ensure compliance with contractual, safety, and regulatory requirements.

WHAT YOU BRING

Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or working toward completion.

1 to 3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, site administration, or a related role; strong potential and relevant education can offset limited experience.

Developing understanding of construction contracts, permitting processes, and project sequencing.

Exposure to project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, or similar) is an asset.

Progress toward, or completion of, a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.

Strong organizational, scheduling, and documentation skills, with keen attention to detail.

Clear, professional communication skills, with the confidence to coordinate across clients, trades, and internal teams.

Sound problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

A collaborative mindset, with a genuine interest in learning from experienced Project Managers and site leaders.

Valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel regularly to project sites and offices throughout British Columbia.

WHAT WE OFFER

Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Travel support, mileage, and employer-arranged accommodations when applicable to the assignment.

Group benefits, RRSP matching, Employee Assistance Program, annual safety allowance, and referral bonus program.

Mentorship from experienced Project Managers and the Director of Projects, with the opportunity to own projects early in your career.

Varied work, meaningful responsibility, and opportunities to grow within Buildforth and the Paradigm Group of Companies.
