ParticipACTION is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping people in Canada be more physically active. You may know ParticipACTION from campaigns and initiatives that encourage Canadians to get active, but there is much more to the organization than advertising. We work with partners, communities, and organizations across the country to promote the benefits of physical activity and help create a more active Canada. Our marketing team plays an important role in bringing this work to life, developing campaigns and content, building partnerships, engaging audiences, and finding creative ways to encourage people to move.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Marketing Intern who is eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional marketing environment. This role is ideal for a student currently enrolled in a marketing, communications, or related post-secondary program who is looking to apply what they are learning in the classroom to real-world projects.
As part of the ParticipACTION marketing team, you’ll gain exposure to a range of marketing activities, including campaign planning, content creation, social media, partnerships, and performance reporting. You’ll contribute to real campaigns and initiatives that help inspire Canadians to be more physically active and see how marketing can be used to create positive change.
You’ll work alongside experienced marketing professionals in a collaborative environment where your ideas and perspective are welcomed. This role is designed to help you develop practical marketing skills, build your professional experience, and gain a better understanding of what it’s like to work in marketing at a national Canadian organization.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the marketing team with planning and executing campaigns, projects, and initiatives that help advance ParticipACTION's mission.
- Assist with developing and organizing creative content ideas for social media, digital channels, and other marketing communications.
- Help create marketing materials and content while ensuring they are consistent with ParticipACTION's brand guidelines.
- Contribute ideas during creative brainstorms and team meetings, bringing fresh ideas to the table.
- Support marketing partnerships by helping with research, brainstorming, communications, and coordination.
- Assist with coordinating campaign and project activities, including organizing information, timelines, and deliverables.
- Help track marketing activities and gather information to support campaign and project reporting.
- Research trends, audiences, and other topics that may help inform marketing ideas and strategies.
- Provide general administrative and project support to the marketing team.
- Take on additional marketing projects and responsibilities as opportunities arise.
Qualifications and skills
- Currently enrolled in a marketing, communications, or related post-secondary program.
- A genuine interest in marketing and a desire to gain practical, real-world experience.
- An interest in ParticipACTION's mission and in the role marketing can play in creating positive social impact.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Comfortable working collaboratively and asking questions when guidance is needed.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Experience with social media, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other marketing tools is an asset, but not required.
Duration: January- April 2027
