Join our growing team in a dynamic, deeply analytical, and innovative environment!

Job Summary

We’re looking for a bilingual, detail-oriented professional whose core focus is payroll and benefits, backed by solid HR and coordination skills. You’ll be a key partner in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, that benefits run smoothly, and that our HR practices stay compliant with Quebec employment standards, including CNESST obligations and Canadian year-end filings (T4, RL-1). Beyond payroll, you’ll support day-to-day HR and coordination work such as employee relations, administration, office management, and compliance, while helping keep cross-functional projects and tasks organized and moving forward. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a small, fast-moving team, and wants broad exposure across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Benefits (primary focus)

Support full-cycle and year-end payroll activities, including T4 and Relevé 1 (RL-1) preparation and verification.

Manage CNESST-related obligations, including remittances, annual declarations, and reporting of workplace injury/leave data.

Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll changes.

Partner with payroll and benefits providers to resolve employee inquiries and process changes.

Administer benefits programs, leave tracking, and related employee documentation.

Reconcile payroll data and support audits with an accounting-minded eye for accuracy.

Coordination & Administration

Coordinate cross-functional tasks and projects, keeping deadlines and deliverables on track.

Take clear notes in meetings, capturing decisions and action items so nothing is missed.

Follow up with team members and stakeholders to keep projects moving forward.

Organize logistics for meetings, onboarding, and internal team activities.

Maintain and organize files, records, and documentation with accuracy and discretion.

Provide general administrative support across departments as needed.

Human Resources

Serve as a point of contact for employee questions on payroll, benefits, HR policies, and workplace concerns.

Maintain HR data, personnel files, and HRIS records with accuracy and discretion, keeping practices aligned with company policy and Quebec employment standards.

Support policy implementation, employee handbook updates, and HR documentation.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Or equivalent practical experience.

Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the National Payroll Institute (or actively working toward it) is an asset.

CRHA designation (or working toward one), or equivalent HR certification, is an asset.

Technical Skills

Hands-on experience with Canadian year-end payroll, including T4 and Relevé 1 (RL-1) preparation and verification.

2-4 years of HR experience with direct payroll involvement (we’re open to strong candidates on either end of that range).

Some accounting background or experience.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of labour standards in Quebec.

In-depth knowledge of labour laws and human resources regulations.

Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms (e.g., Nethris, Rippling, ADP, BambooHR).

Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the discretion to handle confidential information.

Soft Skills

Curiosity and a strong desire to learn and grow.

Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional squad.

Excellent multitasking capabilities.

Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a growing startup, where priorities and tasks can shift as the company evolves.
