A unique opportunity: HR Generalist
Pathway Communications

Salary: $60,000 to $80,000 per year plus benefits, based on experience and assessed capability.

Employment type: Permanent, full-time. On-site five days a week. This is an existing, active vacancy.

The position

We are seeking an HR professional to increase the internal capacity of our human resources department. You will support company leadership by designing and implementing policies and practices to support our growth and corporate goals. This role requires you to balance daily HR operations and practices with new initiatives in a technology environment.
Note: Previous independent management experience is not required. We welcome applicants currently working in positions just below Manager: Business Partners, Generalists and Analysts who are seeking positions with greater scope and opportunities to grow. You will have demonstrated domain knowledge, sound judgement and initiative and delivered outstanding results.

Responsibilities

Work with management on planning workforce and staffing needs. Manage sourcing, candidate recruitment and onboarding. Coordinate employee changes and offboarding.
Assist managers with goal setting and performance reviews, following up on actions and documenting results. Recommend and implement improvements to variable rewards and incentives. Managers remain accountable for employee performance.
Identify training needs, organize relevant development activities and assess whether learning is applied at work. Identify highly capable staff and implement customized development activities.
Prepare analyses and reports on vacancies, recruitment progress, turnover, performance reviews and training. Describe significant issues and recommend corrective action.
Coordinate payroll inputs and benefits administration with the responsible teams. Ensure accurate employee data, vacation records and HR policies are maintained.
Handle employee enquiries and workplace concerns fairly and confidentially. Establish the facts, maintain accurate records and recommend appropriate action within your authority.
Gather employee inputs and feedback and recommend actions to resolve recurring concerns and impending issues.
Manage recognition and engagement activities.

Requirements

Education: A degree preferably in HR or a related discipline, from a recognized Canadian University or College. Foreign credentials assessed (by WES or another ICAS member] are acceptable. You will have obtained your CHRP or CPHR designation or are in the process of acquiring it.
Numeracy and communications: Strong numerical competence and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Experience: at least four years of HR experience in a generalist role with exposure to different functional areas: talent acquisition, compensation and rewards, training and development and employment law. Experience in IT services, telecom, or other technical service environments will be an advantage.
Employment standards: Working knowledge of the Ontario ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
HRIS: Familiarity with HR Information Systems and applicant tracking systems is an asset.
