Original job description

Full Stack Software Engineer

About Patlytics:

Patlytics is the fastest-growing AI-native patent intelligence platform, transforming how IP is protected and monetized at scale. Our advanced LLMs and generative AI engine - custom-built for intellectual property - power every phase of the patent workflow from invention disclosure through litigation, delivering citation-backed insights with unprecedented accuracy and speed.

Fresh off our $40M Series B - led by SignalFire, with participation from N47, Myriad Venture Partners, Liquid 2 Ventures, BAM Corner Point, Alumni Ventures, Antiportfolio Ventures and Relativity- allows us to triple down on the product, accelerate growth globally, hire future mission-aligned colleagues, and to continue redefining what is possible for our customers. - we're scaling fast across product, engineering, and go-to-market. If you want to build at the inflection point, this is it.

With teams across the globe we're building a global company fueled by exceptional talent and bold ideas. Our rapid expansion is driven by people who bring entrepreneurial energy, intellectual curiosity, and a shared commitment to setting the global standard for AI-powered IP intelligence. We're creating a culture where diverse perspectives shape breakthrough innovation and every voice contributes to transforming how the world protects ideas.

We hire for trajectory, not just credentials. If you're 70% of this list and hungry to close the gap, apply.

The Role:

As a Full Stack Engineer at Patlytics, you'll own full-stack features end-to-end on a platform used by Fortune 500 legal and IP teams, shipping work that directly shapes how the world's largest companies protect their ideas. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and designers, to deliver exceptional user experiences and drive the development of our AI-powered patent software.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you’ll:

Build features across our Python/FastAPI backend, Next.js frontend, and LLM inference pipeline, each serving millions of patent analysis requests
Work on our core backend service, AI platform, and data pipeline service to provide a scalable and stable Patlytics’ user experience
Work with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders across the company to bring new features and products to Patlytics’ customers
Collaborate with other engineers to deliver, architect and improve our systems
Implement best practices to improve the engineering team’s development experience
Optimize both frontend and backend applications for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring smooth performance across various components in our tech stack
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in full stack development, and actively contribute ideas and suggestions to improve our development processes.
Recognize impediments to our efficiency as a team ("technical debt"), propose and implement solutions. Have real authority to act on it, not just flag it
Participate and solve critical production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack

About you:

A strong technical background, with 4+ years of experience in Full Stack and API development within an agile software development team
Experience in JavaScript (TypeScript experience preferred)
Experience with React (Next.js), TailwindCSS, state management libraries including Redux or Zustand, data fetching libraries including TanStack query or SWR

Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate empathy and the ability to distill technical concepts into digestible pieces
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
Ability to work in a fast-paced, start up environment and work with extreme ambiguity to deliver on outcomes

Bonus:

Strong technical writing skills
Hands on experience working with AI applications
Experience developing open source software and developer tools
