Role Description The Telecommunication Rigger Foreman is a contract, on-site role based in Mississauga, ON. In this position, the individual supervises and leads rigging crews on tower and wireless infrastructure projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications and carrier standards. Day-to-day tasks include assigning duties, coordinating materials and equipment, performing and overseeing tower climbs, installations, upgrades, and maintenance, and verifying structural and hardware integrity. The Foreman is responsible for enforcing safety procedures, conducting site inspections, maintaining accurate project documentation, and communicating progress and issues to project managers and clients. The role also involves training and mentoring crew members, troubleshooting technical problems on-site, and supporting quality control efforts throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in telecommunications rigging, tower work, and field supervision, with the ability to lead and coordinate crews on wireless infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices, fall protection, rigging techniques, and compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., OH&S, industry best practices).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and technical specifications, including understanding of telecom hardware and installation methods.
- Proficiency in using rigging and climbing equipment, hand and power tools, and basic test equipment relevant to telecom infrastructure work.
- Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to document work, report progress, and collaborate with project managers and clients.
- Previous experience as a foreman or crew lead in telecom or construction, including training and mentoring team members and managing job site logistics.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness and ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., fall protection, tower rescue, first aid/CPR) and additional telecom or construction certifications are considered an asset.
