Original job description
Welcome to Peacock Bakehouse!
We specialize in jumbo, chunky, over-the-top cookies with unique flavour combinations and incredible stuffed centres. This winter, we’re bringing our cookies to the iconic Distillery Winter Village, and we’re looking for a small team to help us create an experience that feels just as special as the cookies themselves.
We’re looking for friendly, energetic and reliable people who genuinely enjoy interacting with customers, can stay organized when things get busy, and aren’t afraid to jump between different tasks throughout a shift.
If you love creating a great customer experience, working as part of a close-knit team and bringing a little extra energy to the holiday season, we’d love to hear from you.
The RoleAs a Holiday Cookie & Guest Experience Associate, you’ll be one of the faces of Peacock Bakehouse throughout the Winter Village.
This is more than just a cashier position. Our booth operates with a small team, so everyone will be involved in the full guest experience - from helping customers choose their cookies and processing orders to packaging, restocking, maintaining our displays and keeping the booth clean and organized.
Some days will be busy, fast and very cold, so we’re looking for people who can keep the energy up, work well together and still give every guest a great experience.
What You’ll Be Doing- Welcome guests and create a warm, friendly and memorable customer experience.
- Learn our cookie menu and confidently explain flavours, products and recommendations.
- Answer ingredient and allergen questions using the information provided by Peacock Bakehouse, and always ask a supervisor when unsure.
- Carefully handle cookies using provided utensils and follow all food-safety and hygiene procedures.
- Prepare customer orders, package cookies neatly and ensure products are properly sealed before being handed to guests.
- Accurately process customer payments using the provided POS system.
- Keep service moving efficiently during busy periods while maintaining accuracy and presentation.
- Restock cookies, packaging, napkins and other supplies throughout the shift.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages or operational issues before they become a problem.
- Maintain clean, organized and visually appealing displays and customer-facing areas.
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces, utensils and equipment according to established procedures.
- Assist with daily opening and closing procedures, including setup, stocking, cleaning, inventory/waste counts and securing the booth.
- Follow Peacock Bakehouse procedures for food safety, waste, equipment and booth operations.
- Jump between customer service, POS, packaging, restocking and cleaning as needed - we’re a small team, so everyone helps with everything.
This is a seasonal position running from November 7, 2026 through January 3, 2027.
The Distillery Winter Village operates throughout Toronto winter weather - rain, snow, sleet or shine - so reliable attendance and being comfortable working in a winter market environment are essential.
Regular market hours are:
- Sunday–Thursday: 11:00 AM–9:00 PM
- Friday–Saturday: 11:00 AM–10:00 PM
Individual shifts will fall within and around these hours and may include time before opening or after closing for setup and closing duties.
Availability for evenings, weekends and peak holiday dates is important. We will be operating on:
- December 24 – Christmas Eve
- December 26 – Boxing Day
- December 31 – New Year’s Eve (extended market hours until midnight)
- January 1 – New Year’s Day
- January 3 – Final market day
We are closed on Christmas Day, December 25.
Availability for several of the peak holiday dates above will be essential when building the team.
What We’re Looking ForGreat with people. You’re warm, approachable and comfortable starting conversations with customers.
Reliable. You show up on time and ready to work. Because we operate with a small team and fixed festival hours, dependable attendance is extremely important.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Holiday weekends can get busy, and you’re able to stay organized and friendly while moving quickly.
Detail-oriented. You care about order accuracy, presentation, cleanliness and doing things properly even when there’s a line.
A team player. You’re comfortable switching between tasks and helping wherever needed rather than sticking to one assigned station.
Winter-ready. You’re comfortable working in a festival cabin during Toronto winter conditions and understand that appropriate warm clothing will be necessary during the entire shift.
Physically comfortable with the role. You can stand for extended periods and perform regular reaching, packing, restocking and movement of supplies throughout a shift.
Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality or food service is preferred, but it isn’t everything. We’re also happy to hear from quick learners with a great attitude who would be comfortable in a busy customer-facing environment.
Food Handler CertificationA valid Ontario-recognized Food Handler Certificate/DineSafe certification is a strong asset and will be prioritized during hiring, but it is not required for every applicant.
If you already have one, please let us know when applying.
What We Offer- Competitive seasonal hourly pay
- A fun, fast-paced holiday market environment in the heart of the Distillery District
- Hands-on experience in customer service, retail and seasonal event operations
- Staff discounts on Peacock Bakehouse products
- A small-team environment where you’ll be involved in the full operation rather than doing the same task all day

Seasonal perks & recognition
We’re building a small team for the season and want everyone to feel like they’re genuinely part of Peacock Bakehouse’s Winter Village experience.
