Original job description

Company Description Our client is looking for a Human Resources Generalist

The Role

As the first dedicated HR Generalist, you will own the day-to-day HR operations. You will transition us from having no formal HR presence to a structured, supportive and compliant environment. Reporting directly to our Fractional CHRO, you will have high-level strategic mentorship while taking full ownership of the day-to-day tactical execution on-site. Operating out of our Mississauga facility, you will support our workforce across Canada, the US, and the UK, establishing robust policies, managing payroll, and fostering a high-accountability workplace culture globally.

Key Responsibilities

● Foundational HR Development: Lead the creation and implementation of core HR policies, procedures and the first comprehensive Employee Manual, ensuring relevance across our Canadian, US, and UK operations.

● Global Payroll and Benefits Administration: Manage end-to-end Canadian payroll processing and oversee payroll and benefits administration for our US and UK team members, ensuring total accuracy and compliance.

● Employee Relations and Support: Act as the primary, trusted point of contact for all 40 employees globally regarding HR queries, ensuring timely and professional resolutions.

● Managerial Coaching: Advise and support line managers in implementing new policies, handling performance management and navigating employee relations across different time zones and cultural contexts.

● Lifecycle Management: Support the end-to-end employee lifecycle, from leading the recruitment and onboarding of new hires to managing probation periods and offboarding.

● Global Compliance and Safety: Ensure all people activities comply with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), as well as relevant employment laws in our US and UK jurisdictions.

● Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the Fractional CHRO and Leadership Team to execute people plans that improve engagement, reduce attrition and align with our business growth objectives.

What will help you succeed in this role?
  • 4 to 6 years of progressive Human Resources experience, ideally with experience in a standalone HR role or building HR functions from scratch.
  • Proven competence executing full-cycle Canadian payroll, with exposure to US and UK payroll/benefits administration being a strong asset.
  • Deep understanding of the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA) and OHSA, alongside a working knowledge of US and UK employment practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field (CHRP designation is a strong asset).
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to coach managers and build trust with operational staff across multiple countries.
  • A proactive, "roll-up-your-sleeves" mindset, comfortable navigating ambiguity and establishing structure where none currently exists.
Compensation and Benefits

We believe in rewarding our team for their hard work and dedication. For this role, we offer:

● Base Salary: $70,000- 85,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

● Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.

● Retirement Savings: Company RRSP matching program to help you plan for the future.

● Vacation and Time Off: Generous vacation allowance, personal days, and paid statutory holidays.

● Professional Development: Continuous learning allowance to support your CHRP designation and career growth.

● Additional Perks: Free on-site parking at our Mississauga facility and access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
