Thermodynamics Engineer

📍 Location: Montreal, QC or Toronto, ON

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Thermodynamics Engineer to perform complex analyses involving fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and CFD for aerospace applications.

The role involves analyzing and interpreting results within the context of aircraft design and sizing, as well as supporting testing, engineering documentation, and development activities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform complex analyses of coupled fluid-heat transfer using CFD.
Solve pipe network flow, heat transfer, and thermodynamics challenges.
Analyze and interpret CFD results within the context of aircraft design and sizing.
Prepare detailed test plans.
Document analysis, ground test, and flight test results.
Write and update engineering practice documents.
Perform complex CFD and finite element analyses.
Support inlet/outlet design and analysis activities.
Work with engineering teams to support aerospace design and analysis activities.
Support short-term travel assignments as required.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is an asset.
5–8 years of experience in internal flow CFD analysis.
Strong background in:
Fluid mechanics
Heat transfer
Thermodynamics
CFD analysis
In-flight icing
Experience with Star-CCM+ and ANSYS Fluent.
Experience with SpaceClaim and Simcenter 3D.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly advanced Excel.
Familiarity with programming, complex codes, and HPC environments is an asset.
Experience with Unix/Linux and programming languages such as:
Fortran 77/95
Visual Basic
C++
C#
Python
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a technical engineering environment.

Preferred Experience

Aircraft inlet/outlet design and analysis
Complex CFD and finite element analysis
HPC and engineering computing environments
Aerospace fluid mechanics and thermal analysis
Ground and flight test documentation

Key Focus Areas

High relevant CFD, thermodynamics, heat transfer, internal flow, aerospace, Star-CCM+, and ANSYS Fluent experience.
