Original job description

Background

Pepper is reinventing the food supply chain. With a team of tech veterans from Uber Eats, Google, Amazon, and more, we’re building digital tools that power foodservice wholesalers, helping them grow faster and do more, and in the process transforming the way food moves in our society.

We’re tackling a gnarly $650B industry that’s still run off paper, and we’ve got the right timing and the right people to make it happen. Our financial backers are some of the most reputable venture capital firms in NYC and the Bay Area, including Lead Edge, ICONIQ, and Greylock. Our bias is towards people who are curious, passionate, and hungry to make a huge impact. Pepper is growing fast and this is a chance to grow with us.

This Is Not a Traditional RevOps Role

At most companies, RevOps maintains the CRM and builds reports. At Pepper, RevOps builds the AI agents, internal tools, and automations our go-to-market team runs on every day. The work includes:

  • Building AI agents that read call transcripts, emails, Slack, and CRM notes to give reps and managers the context and signals they need at each stage of a deal.
  • Using AI to classify and score thousands of companies so the sales team knows where to focus.
  • Replacing manual workflows like lead routing, ownership changes, and data cleanup with automations that run on their own.
  • Shipping internal apps, dashboards, and calculators that reps and managers use every day.
  • Finding and enriching net-new accounts and contacts by combining third-party data, APIs, and web sources.

Most problems here don’t come with a playbook, so you’ll often be designing the solution as you build it.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with GTM leaders. Work closely with Sales, SDR, CS, Marketing, and Finance leadership to understand their goals and how they actually work day to day.
  • Find the leverage. Dig into the funnel, the data, and rep workflows to spot where a tool, automation, or better data would make the biggest difference, and make the case for what to build next.
  • Build and ship end-to-end. Take AI agents, internal apps, and automations from prototype to production using Claude Code, Codex, Python, and SQL.
  • Lead cross-team initiatives. Own high-impact projects that span multiple GTM teams, such as rolling out deal-intelligence agents across Sales and CS, from plan through adoption.
  • Architect the systems. Own the data model and integrations across HubSpot, Snowflake, Gong, Slack, and our internal sales platform, and build source-of-truth tables that agents and automations can trust.
  • Measure what you ship. Define success metrics, track adoption and impact, and retire what doesn’t move the number.
  • Drive adoption. Train AEs, SDRs, and managers, and turn their feedback into the next iteration.

Who You Are (4+ Years Experience)

  • 4+ years in a technical or strategic role. RevOps, Sales Ops, GTM Engineering, BizOps, strategy consulting, data or analytics, software engineering, or building with AI all count. We care more about what you’ve built than about your title.
  • You build with AI coding agents. Hands-on experience with Claude Code or Codex is required, and you’ve shipped real tools with them, not just experimented.
  • You’ve led cross-functional work. You’ve owned a project that spanned multiple teams, aligned stakeholders with competing priorities, and saw it through to adoption.
  • Strong Python and SQL. You’re comfortable with APIs, webhooks, and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake a plus).
  • CRM experience is a plus (HubSpot preferred). If you haven’t worked in one, you can learn object models, workflows, and integrations quickly.
  • Strategic. You’re interested in what makes a sales org run efficiently and which levers keep it on track (funnel math, territory planning, pipeline coverage, segmentation), and you can bring an exec a data-backed recommendation.
  • Prioritizes what matters. You can tell the difference between a request and a real problem, and you spend your time on the work that moves revenue.
  • Builder mindset. You’d rather have a working prototype by Friday than a month-long spec. You don’t wait for a ticket: when you see a manual process, you’re already scoping how to automate it. Startup experience is a plus.
  • Product sense. You treat internal users like customers and think about what they’ll actually adopt and what will break.
  • A clear communicator who can explain how an agent works to an SDR and why it matters to a CRO.
  • Specialized expertise. Deep experience in at least one area: production LLM agents (prompting, evals, tool use, MCP), GTM data architecture, or sales analytics and forecasting.
  • Bonus: experience with Gong and enrichment tools like ZoomInfo or Clay.

How to Stand Out

In your application, tell us about something you’ve built with Claude Code or Codex: the problem, how you built it, and the impact. A GitHub link, a Loom, or a few sentences all work.
