Original job description
A clinic that takes care of its clinicians, too.
At Perception Psychotherapy, we hire intentionally. We want to be a community, not just for our clients but for the people doing the work. We know therapists do their best work when they feel supported, connected, and able to practise in their areas of strength and comfort. So we’ve built our clinic around that: outside supports are in place so you can focus on what you do best and feel set up for success.
We’re a trauma-informed, depth-oriented, integrative practice in downtown Edmonton. We work with capable, high-functioning adults who are ready to go deeper. Many of them live in their heads and are ready to reconnect with their bodies and emotions. Our work centres on the brain–body connection, blending depth, somatic, and practical approaches.
We’re looking for a therapist who gets excited not only about the work with clients, but about the work with themselves, too.
What your work will look like
- Providing individual therapy to adults, in person and virtually, in a way that fits your training and style
- Building a caseload you feel good about, with clients referred to you by our team
- Keeping clinical notes and documentation in Jane
- Connecting with colleagues for consultation and shared learning
- Practising within the ethical and professional standards of your regulatory body
- Helping shape a warm, welcoming space for clients and team members alike
You might be a great fit if you…
- Hold a Master’s degree or higher in Counselling, Psychology, or a related field
- Are a CCC (Canadian Certified Counsellor) or CT (Counselling Therapist) in good standing; Registered Psychologists are also welcome
- Are creative, somatic, and holistic in how you work, and believe in the brain–body connection
- Are curious about neuropsychology and love learning
- Have EMDR training (an asset)
- Have MVA experience, such as treatment planning, documentation, and working with adjusters (an asset)
- Have used Jane before (an asset)
- Hold an Ontario RP (an asset)
- Bring cultural diversity or speak more than one language. We strongly encourage you to apply, as diversity is at the heart of who we are.
What we offer you
- Clients, without the hustle. We handle marketing and refer clients to you, so you can focus on therapy instead of filling your caseload.
- You focus on clients; we handle the rest. Admin support and weekday reception take care of the day-to-day.
- Real flexibility. Set your own rates within clinic guidelines, shape your hours, and work in the way that feels right to you.
- A team that stays connected. Optional bi-weekly team meetings give you a place to consult, feel supported, and find opportunities to grow.
- Room to grow. Clinicians interested in leadership are encouraged to apply. You can also take part in our virtual educational webinars for the public and our in-person somatic and holistic events in Edmonton.
- An easy place to land. You’ll have your own keys, a shared downtown office, and free parking for you and your clients.
- A competitive revenue split as an independent contractor.
The schedule
You set your own hours. In-person office days are Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and we ask that you’re in the office at least one of those days each week. Weekends are completely optional; they’re there if you want them. Your virtual sessions can fit around whatever schedule works for you.
Interested? Have questions? Here's how to apply
Send your resume and a short cover letter to admin@perceptionpsychotherapy.ca with the subject line “In-Person Therapist – [Your Name].” In your letter, tell us a bit about your approach to therapy, any specializations, and what excites you about your own growth & role as a therapist!
We care deeply about the people in the Perception family, and if this sounds like a good space for you, we’d love to have you!
