As a Bakery & Decadence Clerk, you'll support the Bakery Department Manager in maintaining the highest standards of product quality, presentation, food safety, and customer service.
What You'll Do
- Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming customers, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
- Assist customers with selecting bakery items and provide product knowledge, including ingredients, flavours, and preparation suggestions.
- Maintain attractive, well-stocked bakery displays that showcase the quality and variety of our products.
- Ensure products are properly handled, packaged, labeled, and presented according to Pete's standards.
- Support inventory rotation, freshness checks, and department organization.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming department.
- Work collaboratively with team members to support daily bakery operations.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Bakery Department Manager.
- Previous customer service experience (1+ years preferred).
- Passion for food and a desire to share that passion with customers.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.
- Positive attitude with confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.
- Product knowledge and experience with food products is considered an asset.
- This role involves frequent interaction with customers and coworkers in a busy retail environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while working on the retail floor.
- Regular movement including walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to lift and move products weighing approximately 10–40 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures and exposure to common food allergens.
