As part of PETRONAS, a dynamic global energy group with presence in over 100 countries, we are well-positioned to provide global markets with responsibly-developed Canadian energy while supporting local jobs, collaborating with Indigenous communities and protecting the environment.

At PETRONAS Canada, we are committed to building Canada’s energy future – and people are fundamental to our success. We foster a culture of open collaboration and empowerment across our team of skilled professionals, while supporting career development opportunities. We are looking for can-do problem solvers to join our team who are innovative and passionate about driving strong safety, operational and sustainability performance in everything we do. Our unique culture and commitment to growth makes the company a great place to build your career.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an early-career Accounting Analyst to join the Master Data Management and Capital Accounting team in Calgary. Reporting to the Team Lead, Master Data & Capital Accounting, you will help maintain the SAP master data that supports accurate accounting, project reporting and day-to-day business processes. You will receive hands-on exposure to SAP, work with Finance and operational teams, and build an understanding of how master data supports projects throughout their lifecycle.

How You Will Contribute

Create, update and review SAP master data, including WBS elements, cost centers, hierarchies, business partners and joint venture data.
Complete routine data-quality checks and reconciliations, investigate differences and follow up with the appropriate teams.
Help maintain asset and project-related information used by Capital Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Support month-end activities such as settlements, distributions, overhead and cutback processes, with guidance from experienced team members.
Prepare and maintain supporting documentation, procedures and governance records.
Assist with project setup, changes, technical completion and closure activities by gathering information and ensuring requests are complete and accurate.
Identify practical opportunities to simplify recurring work, improve data quality and reduce manual effort

What You Bring

Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience within the oil and gas industry would be a benefit
Exposure to SAP is an asset
An intermediate understanding of accounting concepts and an interest in learning how financial information is structured in business systems
Highly motivated team player and self-starter who focuses on getting the job done, accurately and completely
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
A collaborative, curious and improvement-focused mindset

Job postings are typically only open for applications for two weeks so please submit your resume today.

Why You Should Join Our Team

Flexible work arrangements which include a compressed work week with Friday afternoons off for office-based roles
Dress for your day - a casual yet professional environment
Ability to contribute to a dynamic organization with large growth ambitions
Competitive compensation and bonus programs
Top tier benefit package, including a generous Health and Wellness Spending Account and Savings Plan
Making a positive difference in our communities through volunteerism, community support and providing opportunities to those in the areas where we operate
Annual employee-directed charity donation program
Support for training and professional development

PETRONAS Canada would like to thank all applicants for their interest in joining our team; however only the candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
