As part of PETRONAS, a dynamic global energy group with presence in over 100 countries, we are well-positioned to provide global markets with responsibly-developed Canadian energy while supporting local jobs, collaborating with Indigenous communities and protecting the environment.

At PETRONAS Canada, we are committed to building Canada’s energy future – and people are fundamental to our success. We foster a culture of open collaboration and empowerment across our team of skilled professionals, while supporting career development opportunities. We are looking for can-do problem solvers to join our team who are innovative and passionate about driving strong safety, operational and sustainability performance in everything we do. Our unique culture and commitment to growth makes the company a great place to build your career.

THE ROLE:

PETRONAS Canada is a great place to launch a career that is enriched with knowledge, technical skills and mentorship. Our summer student program provides an opportunity to experience real-world challenges, collaborate with diverse teams, network with other students and create a vision for your future career path.

Working with our Health and Safety team in Calgary, this will be a full-time student position from May through August 2027. During your summer, you will gain exposure to the energy industry by attending sessions hosted by subject matter experts and will have an opportunity to showcase your learnings with your student network. We are looking for capable, energetic, and driven individuals to join us in our passion for progress. Expand your potential with us!

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

Support the administration and continuous improvement of PETRONAS Canada's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Training and Competency Program
Assist with maintaining training records, learning pathways, competency matrices, and compliance reporting within the Absorb Learning Management System (LMS)
Generate and analyze training, competency, and compliance reports to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
Coordinate and support HSE training projects, including process improvement initiatives, content updates, and learner engagement activities
Assist in the development of training communications, training materials, job aids, presentations, and visual learning resources
Support data collection, validation, and reporting activities related to workforce capability development and regulatory training requirements

WHAT YOU BRING:

Actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree or diploma program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, and must be returning to undergraduate studies after the work term
Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree (Graphic Design, Education, Communication, or Data Analytics), Diploma or Technical Certificate (Graphic or Digital Design, Project Management, Information Technology)
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with strong Excel skills
Experience with learning management systems (such as Absorb LMS) and visualization software packages (PowerBI) is an asset
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create engaging and professional materials
Strong analytical and data management skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Experience creating visual content, presentations, infographics, digital communications, or training materials is considered an asset
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams
Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Job postings are typically only open for applications for one week so please submit your resume, cover letter, and transcript today.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN OUR TEAM:

Flexible work arrangements which include a compressed work week with Friday afternoons off for office-based roles
Dress for your day - a casual yet professional environment
Meaningful, challenging and rewarding work experience, relevant to your field of study
Learn from knowledgeable mentors who will provide you with insight into what it will be like to work in your chosen career
Ability to contribute to a dynamic organization with large growth ambitions
Competitive compensation
Work for a company that is making a positive difference in our communities through volunteerism, community support and providing opportunities to those in the areas where we work
