Original job description

PETRONAS Canada is one of the largest natural gas resource owners in Canada. We have operations in the Montney play in northeast British Columbia and are a partner in LNG Canada. As part of PETRONAS, a dynamic global energy group with presence in over 100 countries, we are well-positioned to provide global markets with responsibly-developed Canadian energy while supporting local jobs, collaborating with Indigenous communities and protecting the environment.

At PETRONAS Canada, we are committed to building Canada’s energy future – and people are fundamental to our success. We foster a culture of open collaboration and empowerment across our team of skilled professionals, while supporting career development opportunities. We are looking for can-do problem solvers to join our team who are innovative and passionate about driving strong safety, operational and sustainability performance in everything we do. Our unique culture and commitment to growth makes the company a great place to build your career.

THE ROLE:

PETRONAS Canada is a great place to launch a career that is enriched with knowledge, technical skills and mentorship. Our summer student program provides an opportunity to experience real-world challenges, collaborate with diverse teams, network with other students and create a vision for your future career path.

Working with our Human Resources team in Calgary, this will be a full-time student position from April through August 2027. During your summer, you will gain exposure to the energy industry by attending sessions hosted by subject matter experts and will have an opportunity to showcase your learnings with your student network. We are looking for capable, energetic, and driven individuals to join us in our passion for progress. Expand your potential with us!

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

Provide recruitment support by posting job openings, conducting initial phone screens, scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, and supporting recruitment reporting
Collaborate with employees and leaders to create and maintain a centralized database of position descriptions
Assist with processing employee transactions in our Human Resources Information System, Workday
Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities
Prepare HR correspondence including employment-related documentation, general correspondence, and other documents as requested
Provide assistance with the Summer Student program, including supporting student onboarding, tracking required student documentation, responding to inquiries from students and employees, and completing additional tasks as required
Support the Benefits team in the planning and coordination of employee events and benefit-related data audits, as required
Participate in HR projects and activities, and assist with HR reporting as required

WHAT YOU BRING:

Actively enrolled in a Human Resources or related undergraduate degree program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, and must be returning to undergraduate studies following the completion of the work term
Interest in developing a career in Human Resources
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Curious, proactive, and eager to learn, with a willingness to contribute ideas and take on new challenges
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information professionally
Experience maintaining accurate employee data in Workday or a similar Human Resources Information System (HRIS) is an asset

Job postings are typically only open for applications for one week so please submit your resume, cover letter, and transcript today.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN OUR TEAM:

Flexible work arrangements which include a compressed work week with Friday afternoons off for office-based roles
Dress for your day - a casual yet professional environment
Meaningful, challenging and rewarding work experience, relevant to your field of study
Learn from knowledgeable mentors who will provide you with insight into what it will be like to work in your chosen career
Ability to contribute to a dynamic organization with large growth ambitions
Competitive compensation
Work for a company that is making a positive difference in our communities through volunteerism, community support and providing opportunities to those in the areas where we work
