About Pharmacy.ca

Pharmacy.ca is an independently owned specialty pharmacy providing patient-centred pharmaceutical care and specialized compounding services. Our operations include a dedicated non-sterile compounding laboratory supporting individualized medications, batch production, and specialized pharmaceutical services.

We are seeking an experienced Compounding Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our non-sterile compounding laboratory and help build the next stage of our growing operation.

This is a hands-on leadership position for a pharmacist or highly experienced pharmaceutical compounding professional who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead people, manage production, improve processes, and take ownership of operational performance.

For the right candidate, this role offers a long-term leadership path with potential progression into broader senior leadership responsibilities as the organization grows.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Full-Time Staff Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team. This is an urgent hiring opportunity for a pharmacist who is looking for a stable Monday-to-Friday position and is committed to providing safe, accurate, and high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for prescription assessment and verification, medication dispensing, patient counselling, medication management, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. You will work closely with patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to address medication-related needs and support positive patient outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a specialized pharmacy environment, with exposure to specialty pharmacy services and non-sterile compounding. While previous specialty pharmacy or compounding experience is an asset, it is not required for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, assess, and accurately verify prescriptions for appropriateness, completeness, safety, and compliance with applicable legislation and professional standards.
  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of patient safety and service.
  • Provide clear and professional counselling to patients regarding medication use, dosage, potential side effects, drug interactions, precautions, and adherence.
  • Identify and address medication-related concerns and use sound professional judgment when making clinical recommendations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective medication therapy.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient profiles, dispensing records, and clinical documentation.
  • Support specialty pharmacy services and non-sterile compounding activities as appropriate to training, competency, and assigned responsibilities.
  • Monitor medication inventory and assist with ordering, receiving, storage, and stock management.
  • Provide professional direction and support to pharmacy assistants and other pharmacy staff as required.
  • Follow pharmacy policies, procedures, quality assurance processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to maintaining an organized, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy environment.
  • Participate in workflow improvements and other initiatives that support quality, efficiency, and patient experience.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted Part A registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a retail or community pharmacy setting.
  • Proficiency with Kroll pharmacy management software.
  • Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong patient counselling and medication management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, professional standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality of care.

Assets

  • Previous experience in a specialty pharmacy environment.
  • Knowledge or experience with non-sterile compounding.
  • Experience working with complex or customized medication requirements.
  • Experience providing direction or support to pharmacy assistants or other pharmacy staff.
  • Interest in expanding clinical knowledge and developing within a specialty pharmacy environment.

What We Offer

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • No evenings or weekends
  • Competitive compensation reflective of qualifications and experience
  • Opportunity to develop experience in specialty pharmacy and non-sterile compounding
  • Collaborative and professional work environment
  • Opportunity to contribute to pharmacy operations and continuous improvement
  • Stable and consistent work schedule
