About the Role
Phase Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Lead to support a major mining client with ongoing capital projects across Abitibi, Québec, and Ontario.
The successful candidate will lead project controls activities, including planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and performance reporting. This role requires frequent travel between project locations, with a strong on-site presence and limited opportunities for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate project controls activities across multiple mining capital projects.
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, cost management, forecasting, and progress reporting.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor integrated project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and deliverables.
- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, forecasts, and cost performance, identifying potential deviations.
- Identify project risks, schedule delays, and cost overruns, recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare and present project performance reports, dashboards, and forecasts to project management and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams to ensure effective project execution.
- Coordinate project controls activities across multiple project sites in Abitibi and Ontario.
- Support change management, risk assessments, and project performance improvement initiatives.
- Travel frequently to project locations to support project execution and maintain close coordination with on-site teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in project controls, preferably within the mining industry or large-scale capital projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading project controls activities, including planning, scheduling, cost management, and forecasting.
- Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction project lifecycles.
- Experience with project controls software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and cost management tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness and availability to travel frequently between Abitibi and Ontario, with limited remote work.
Language Requirements
- English: Strong professional proficiency is required.
- French: Considered an asset but is not mandatory. Candidates who do not speak French are encouraged to apply.
Work Location and Travel
This position requires a significant on-site presence across mining project locations in Northern and Southern Ontario and Abitibi, Québec. Candidates must be comfortable with frequent regional travel and a work arrangement that offers limited remote flexibility.
