About the Company

Phi Partners is a global boutique Capital Markets IT consultancy with nearly two decades of experience providing expert services, technology and advisory to large financial institutions including investment banks and hedge funds on how to leverage technology to improve their operations and services. Our specialisation in Front Office, Pricing and Risk has been a gateway into the world’s renowned financial institutions. Our ability to provide end to end solutions, from strategy development to technology implementation and ongoing support helps us provide tailored solutions that meet client’s unique needs.

About the Role

Phi Partners is supporting a leading financial institution on the ongoing support, optimisation and automation of its Murex MX.3 platform, with a specific focus on the market risk landscape. The engagement covers live production operations across risk and trading, spanning the configuration and maintenance of market risk calculations, the performance of the end-of-day batch estate, and the automation and monitoring required to keep both inside agreed SLA windows. The platform supports market risk across FX, fixed income, equities, commodities and derivatives, with regulatory obligations under Basel III, FRTB and SA-CCR. This is a hands-on role in a live, high-volume environment, working directly alongside the client's risk managers, traders, technology and infrastructure teams. The successful candidate will act as the primary subject-matter expert for Murex risk configuration and lead the technical response when risk and trading systems are affected.

Responsibilities

Risk SME and configuration

  • Act as the primary SME for Murex MLC (Limits Controller) and MRE (Market Risk Engine)
  • Configure and maintain market risk calculations across VaR, stress testing and XVA, including risk matrices, scenario definitions and exposure methodologies
  • Support FRTB implementation, Basel III compliance and regulatory risk reporting
  • Design and optimise MLC reports, LRB tasks and Datamart risk reports

End-of-day batch and SLA management

  • Design and optimise EOD batch workflows to meet strict SLA requirements
  • Manage critical batch jobs covering risk calculations, P&L generation and regulatory reporting
  • Implement automated monitoring with real-time alerting for job failures and SLA breaches
  • Improve processing times through batch tuning and parallel processing of compute-intensive risk calculations

Production support and incident management

  • Support the Murex technical architecture across production and non-production environments
  • Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis and escalation, including during EOD processing
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical trading and risk system outages
  • Develop and maintain scripts (Python, Shell, Perl) for automated health monitoring and log analysis

Required Skills

  • Ten or more years of Murex experience, with extensive hands-on MLC and MRE configuration
  • Proficiency in VaR modelling (historical simulation, Monte Carlo, parametric), backtesting and stress testing across asset classes
  • Market risk expertise across FX, fixed income, equities, commodities and derivatives, including options risk, Greeks and sensitivity analysis
  • Strong Linux/Unix knowledge, including system scripting and performance analysis
  • Batch monitoring and scheduling using enterprise tools (Control-M, Autosys, Tidal)
  • Hands-on Datamart configuration, MxML reports and batch optimisation
  • Exposure to DevOps toolchains and cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
  • Regulatory reporting under Basel III, FRTB and SA-CCR
  • Trading lifecycle knowledge with a focus on risk controls and monitoring
  • Strong analytical mindset with a focus on risk measurement accuracy and SLA compliance
  • Confident communicator across risk, trading, IT and regulatory stakeholders

Preferred Skills

  • Master's degree in finance, mathematics, engineering or another quantitative discipline
  • FRM, PRM or CFA
  • Murex domain depth across S4C, MLC and PAC
  • Murex technical certification in the risk modules

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading capital markets technology consultancy and take ownership of the market risk configuration and production performance of a Tier-1 Murex MX.3 platform. The role offers deep technical ownership, direct exposure to risk and trading stakeholders, and the chance to shape the automation and stability agenda across a critical risk environment.
