About the Role
Phi Partners is supporting a major global investment bank in New York on its Murex MX.3 platform, with an established team of Phi consultants already embedded in the bank’s technical delivery. As the programme grows, we are expanding the team and looking for experienced Murex technical consultants to join from Canada.
You’ll join a Phi team that already knows the platform and the client environment well, so you can get up to speed quickly and focus on delivery. The work is hands-on and client-facing: working directly with the bank’s technology teams to gather requirements, design solutions, keep environments stable and resolve production-critical issues across its Murex estate.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities can include
- Define and validate technical architecture for Murex environments (on-prem or cloud), including hardware sizing based on client needs, expected load and Murex requirements
- Design system engineering blueprints (network layout, server communication, load balancers)
- Deploy and maintain Murex environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod) across on-prem or cloud platforms, managing infrastructure resources (VMs, servers, storage, network connectivity)
- Handle CI workflows (version control, branch/merge strategies, Git governance) and build and maintain CD pipelines, coordinating with functional and technical streams on deployment automation
- Build and deliver deployment packages (binaries, configurations, scripts) with documentation
- Coordinate release cycles with QA, DevOps, Functional teams and client IT
- Resolve technical platform and environment-level issues, from low-level system and connectivity problems to performance, compatibility and resource allocation
- Debug Murex binaries and troubleshoot system crashes or performance degradation
- Set up and configure resource monitoring tools (CPU, RAM, disk, network I/O, etc.), monitor environment health and perform capacity planning
- Optimise system performance, ensuring high availability, scalability and resilience
- Work with DevOps and client IT on firewall, DMZ, proxy and security set-up
- Support disaster recovery (DR) and backup infrastructure planning
Required Skills
We're looking for a candidates with:
- Strong technical knowledge of Murex MX.3 architecture, including service distribution, clustering, failover and scalability
- Experience with Murex platform architecture, configuration and the deployment lifecycle, from configuration to delivery
- Proven expertise in hardware sizing and technical architecture design
- Deep understanding of Linux/Unix administration, networking and performance tuning
- Strong knowledge of load balancing, clustering and high-availability set-ups
- Familiarity with firewall, DMZ, VPN and proxy configurations
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, Git, GitLab CI, Bitbucket)
- Experience with resource monitoring tools (e.g. Nagios, Prometheus, ELK, AppDynamics)
- Ability to debug Java/C++ binaries, read logs and identify root causes
- Scripting experience (e.g. Python, Shell/Bash)
- Experience with scheduling software
- Ability to document and standardise environment set-ups across clients
- Experience leading a team on a client engagement
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Previous experience leading technical workstreams in large-scale MX.3 upgrade or implementation projects is highly desirable
