School-based Physiotherapist: We are looking for a physiotherapist to work on our dedicated and knowledgeable team, providing services in Nunavut schools. This is a part-time hybrid position with a variable schedule, as determined by supervisor, but typically 3.5 days/week virtually and 5 days/week while travelling in Nunavut (approximately 14 weeks during the school year). Position is subject to an annual layoff period during July and August.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting students and the school team to meet the needs of all learners. Out team of physiotherapists can be based anywhere in Canada but must be flexible to travel to Nunavut and provide ongoing remote follow up to their Nunavut schools.
Education And Qualifications:
- Hold a Baccalaureate or master’s degree in Physiotherapy
- Must be currently registered to practice Physiotherapy with good standing in a Canadian province
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
- This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, an Adult Abuse Registry Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check.
Experience:
- Two or more years directly related general clinical experience preferred.
- Experience with children preferred.
- Cross cultural awareness and experience in a cross-cultural setting preferred.
- Experience working in a school setting considered an asset (for school OT position).
- Experience with classroom-based observation and consultation as asset (for school OT).
- Knowledge of Trauma Informed practice & cultural safety preferred.
Skills And Abilities:
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Proficiency in the Inuktitut language is an asset.
- Effective oral and written communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team essential.
- Must have a well-developed understanding of professional responsibility and confidentiality.
Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities:
- Must be able to work with limited supervision, be self-directed and prioritize own work.
- Must be able to work in a remote setting with limited resources available.
Salary range is from $47.89 – 68.31 / hour depending on experience and location.
