Your work will span the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and system planning through detailed design, construction review, and operational support.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on both established and emerging district energy technologies, including 5th generation district energy systems that use ambient-temperature networks and heat pumps to enable heating and cooling between buildings. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, clients, and project partners to develop practical, sustainable solutions tailored to each project.

This is also an opportunity to grow with the practice. As you build your technical expertise, client relationships, and project leadership skills, there is potential to take on greater responsibility and progress into a future leadership role.

Your Impact as a Project Engineer

  • Low carbon electrification projects which use heat pumps to recover waste heat and offset carbon-based heating.
  • Energy Audits, Specialist Reports and GHG reduction studies in existing buildings in Western Canada with assistance from our energy modelers
  • Design, review, and inspect heat recovery systems for commercial, institutional and residential facilities, including central energy plants
  • Building mechanical HVAC and plumbing designs for Pinchin’s broad portfolio of clients in British Columbia and across Canada.
  • Support projects related to new builds and retrofits in multiple sectors including residential, commercial and institutional.
  • Monitor operations and report on the performance of existing renewable energy y systems
  • Assist with preparing proposals, cost estimates and reports.
  • Foster and maintain positive, long term client relationships

You bring a solid foundation in mechanical engineering, hands-on experience with energy systems, and an interest in solving complex technical challenges. You’re comfortable taking ownership of your work, collaborating with clients and project teams, and continuing to grow your expertise in district energy and sustainable building systems.

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering with a P.Eng. designation and 6+ years of consulting engineering experience. LEED or CEM designation is an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with district energy, geothermal/geoexchange, and/or central chiller plant design, along with building HVAC, hydronic heating and cooling, or retrofit projects.
  • Experience conducting energy audits and evaluating energy-efficiency measures for building mechanical systems.
  • Strong technical, research, report-writing, communication, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage priorities and work independently.
