Pinnacle Event Rentals is a fast-growing event rental company serving Winnipeg and communities across Manitoba. We are looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day execution of our Winnipeg operation.

This is a key leadership position with significant room for growth. The successful candidate will help shape our operational systems, develop future supervisors and team leads, and take on greater responsibility as our Winnipeg operation grows.

This is not a desk-only management position. We are looking for someone who enjoys organizing people, setting priorities, solving problems, improving processes and making sure work is completed properly and on time.

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring our people, rental inventory, vehicles and equipment are prepared and ready to successfully execute scheduled events, deliveries and pickups.

A significant initial focus will be strengthening our warehouse operation, including order preparation, product quality, loading, returns, inventory organization, labour productivity and staff accountability. As the role develops, the Operations Manager will progressively take on greater responsibility for field operations and logistics.

As Pinnacle’s Winnipeg operation grows, a key part of this role will be building the people, processes and leadership structure required to scale the operation. The Operations Manager will initially be very hands-on, but over time will be expected to develop Warehouse Supervisors, Field Supervisors, Crew Leads and other operational positions so day-to-day execution can be effectively delegated and the Operations Manager can focus more on planning, leadership, team development and overall operational performance.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Pinnacle operates in a fast-paced event environment where priorities can change quickly. Multiple events may be preparing, loading, delivering, installing and returning at the same time.

We want someone who looks ahead, identifies issues early and takes ownership. When something goes wrong, this person should solve the immediate problem, determine why it happened and improve the process so it is less likely to happen again.

OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Winnipeg Operations team.

Establish daily priorities and assign work.

Review upcoming events, deliveries and pickups to ensure the team is prepared in advance.

Translate event requirements into inventory, equipment, vehicle and labour requirements.

Identify shortages, delays, staffing concerns and operational issues before they affect an event.

Adjust priorities and staffing as requirements change.

Take ownership of operational problems and follow them through to resolution.

Work closely with the sales team and management to ensure requirements and changes are clearly communicated.

Develop processes that improve efficiency, quality and accountability.

Remain actively involved in operations and work alongside the team when required.

WAREHOUSE AND ORDER READINESS

A major part of this role is ensuring rental inventory leaving the Winnipeg warehouse is clean, complete, accurate, properly prepared and ready on time.

Review upcoming orders and establish preparation priorities.

Ensure orders are picked accurately and within required timelines.

Ensure rental products meet Pinnacle’s cleanliness, quality and presentation standards.

Monitor Linen, Dish, Furniture, Décor and other Eventwares preparation requirements.

Identify when departments are falling behind and reallocate labour or adjust priorities.

Ensure missing, damaged or unavailable inventory is identified and communicated early.

Ensure order changes are documented, communicated and completed.

Ensure completed orders are staged and ready for loading.

LOADING, RETURNS AND INVENTORY FLOW

Oversee and participate in loading and unloading trucks and trailers.

Ensure orders are checked before leaving the warehouse.

Ensure trucks and trailers are loaded safely and in a way that protects rental inventory.

Maintain loading standards that reduce product damage and improve field efficiency.

Ensure returned inventory is unloaded and processed promptly.

Ensure returned products are identified as clean, dirty, damaged or requiring repair and routed appropriately.

Ensure completed inventory is returned to its designated storage location.

PEOPLE, STAFFING AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Schedule Operations employees based on workload and operational requirements.

Review upcoming workload and determine labour requirements in advance.

Allocate Operations staff across warehouse, Eventwares and Field requirements based on workload and priorities.

Adjust daily staff assignments and priorities as requirements change.

Ensure employees remain productive and understand their next priority.

Identify staffing shortages early and recommend schedule changes, overtime or additional staffing when required.

Provide ongoing direction, coaching and feedback.

Address performance, attendance, quality and safety concerns promptly.

Identify and develop future Warehouse Supervisors, Field Supervisors and team leads.

We are looking for someone who can provide clear direction and hold people accountable while maintaining a professional and respectful workplace.

FLEET AND EQUIPMENT

Monitor the readiness of trucks, trailers, forklifts and other operational assets.

Ensure inspections, maintenance and repair concerns are addressed.

Coordinate vehicle and trailer requirements with the operational schedule.

Assist in assigning trucks and trailers based on job requirements, capacity and availability.

FIELD OPERATIONS

As the successful candidate learns Pinnacle’s operation, the Operations Manager will progressively take on greater responsibility for Winnipeg Field Operations.

Support installations, deliveries and pickups.

Ensure Field employees have the equipment, information and resources required to complete scheduled work.

Communicate with Field Technicians, Apprentices and Crew Leads regarding priorities and operational issues.

Assist in resolving field problems involving inventory, equipment, staffing, vehicles or logistics.

Monitor field quality, efficiency and safety.

Work with management on field labour requirements and scheduling.

Help develop consistent field standards and future Field Supervisors and Crew Leads.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success means Winnipeg Operations runs in a planned, organized and proactive manner.

Orders are prepared accurately and on time. Products are clean and event-ready. Trucks are loaded properly. Returns are processed promptly. The warehouse remains organized. Employees understand their responsibilities and priorities. Staffing needs are identified before they become emergencies. Missing items and unnecessary damage are reduced. Problems are identified early and followed through to resolution.

When something goes wrong, we want the Operations Manager to determine why it happened, fix the immediate problem and improve the process so it is less likely to happen again.

Most importantly, the Operations Manager will build systems, standards and accountability that allow Pinnacle’s Winnipeg operation to continue growing without relying on ownership to manage every day-to-day operational decision.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You may come from event rentals, warehouse operations, logistics, construction, transportation, equipment rentals, manufacturing or another fast-paced operational environment.

Direct event-rental experience is an asset, but strong operational leadership is more important than having worked specifically in the event-rental industry.

The successful candidate will have:

Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience.

Experience in operations, warehouse management, logistics or a similar hands-on environment.

Strong organizational, planning and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to lead employees, delegate work and hold team members accountable.

Ability to plan labour requirements and prioritize changing deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Confidence making decisions and taking ownership of results.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

A valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical work when required.

Experience driving trucks, towing trailers, operating forklifts or using material-handling equipment is an asset.
