About the Role

Pioneer Exploration Consultants is currently seeking an early career geophysicist to join our airborne geophysical survey team. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to develop technical expertise in airborne geophysical data acquisition, processing, quality control, and interpretation while supporting a variety of geophysical survey programs.

Working closely with experienced geophysicists, pilots, field technicians, and project managers, the successful candidate will contribute to all stages of survey execution, from field mobilization and airborne data acquisition through to office-based data processing, analysis, and project reporting.

This is a varied, practical role suited to someone who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with fieldwork, travel, and the coordination required to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality geophysical surveys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in airborne geophysical survey field programs, supporting daily survey operations and data acquisition
  • Assist with planning and coordinating survey mobilizations, including equipment preparation, transportation, accommodation, and field supplies
  • Monitor incoming survey data and acquisition parameters to help ensure data quality and compliance with project specifications
  • Perform field quality control checks and identify potential acquisition issues for investigation and resolution
  • Maintain accurate field notes, equipment records, daily reports, and survey documentation
  • Work collaboratively with pilots, field personnel, and technical staff to support safe and efficient survey execution
  • Assist with data processing and data analysis under the guidance of senior team members

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • A bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently when required and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel frequently and participate in field rotations, potentially in remote locations and variable weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada and availability to work in the USA and internationally.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with geophysical survey data acquisition
  • Familiarity with geophysical processing or interpretation software
  • Experience with GIS, spatial data, mapping, or coordinate reference systems
  • Basic scripting or programming experience using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS positioning, survey navigation data, or instrumentation troubleshooting

What We Offer

  • Hands-on experience with airborne geophysical survey operations and technologies
  • Mentorship and technical development alongside experienced, professionally certified, geophysicists.
  • Exposure to the full survey lifecycle, from mobilization and data acquisition through to processing and interpretation
  • Opportunities to develop practical instrumentation, data analysis, and project coordination skills
  • A collaborative working environment with opportunities for professional growth and increasing technical responsibility
  • Competitive compensation, including benefits package and RRSP contribution plan

How to Apply

Interested candidates are invited to submit a CV and cover letter outlining their relevant education, technical skills, and interest in airborne geophysical survey operations to info@pioneerexploration.ca.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Only candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.
