Original job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Scheduler for utility-scale, commercial, and industrial electrical contractor projects. The ideal candidate will possess advanced Primavera P6 expertise and a deep understanding of electrical sequencing, progress tracking, and earned value management. You will be responsible for creating baseline schedules, performing regular updates, executing recovery plans, and driving financial performance tracking.

As a Project Scheduler, Your Core Responsibilities Will Include

Schedule Development & Maintenance

  • Baseline Creation: Develop logic-driven, resource-loaded Primavera P6 schedules for complex electrical construction projects.
  • Progress Updating: Prepare weekly and monthly progressing and updating of the master schedule using field-verified data.
  • Sequencing Logic: Map accurate electrical installation sequences including conduit, wiring, switchgear, substations, and testing/commissioning phases.

Performance Tracking & Analytics

  • Earned Value Management: Implement and manage EVM metrics (CPI, SPI, CV, SV) to track budget and schedule health.
  • Resource Loading: Monitor labor curves, man-hour allocations, and equipment constraints to identify potential bottlenecks.
  • Critical Path Analysis: Identify and analyze critical path activities to proactively mitigate potential project delays.

Recovery & Mitigation

  • Schedule Recovery: Prepare actionable "catch-up" schedules and recovery curves when projects experience slippage.
  • Time Impact Analysis: Perform TIAs to quantify, document, and justify schedule extensions or change orders.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Stakeholder Reporting: Generate clear narrative reports, dashboards, and S-curves for project managers and clients.
  • Field Coordination: Collaborate closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to validate field progress.

Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Construction Scheduler. Preferably working for a M&E or general contractor.
  • Post-Secondary degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience.
  • Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), Earned Value Professional (EVP), Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional) certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and cost/schedule integration.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (particularly MS Excel).
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
