Job Description:

Applied AI Engineer Intern (Co-op)

Our real-time inference services power machine learning across the entire business under strict latency SLAs, and we need someone who wants to take models out of notebooks and ship production Python services that scale.

What You'll Be Doing

Working closely with a senior mentor, you will build and operate the production inference services that serve machine learning models across our partner ecosystem in real time. Your day to day centers on writing clean, low-latency Python services with FastAPI, configuring cloud infrastructure on AWS, and building the pipelines and caching layers that keep response times fast under strict SLAs. You will use AI-assisted development tools to explore solutions and build prototypes faster, pairing rapid code generation with the engineering judgment needed to audit and refine the output before it reaches production. Every piece of code you write, from endpoint logic to integration tests, goes directly toward supporting live systems that real partners rely on every second.

The Stack

Python · FastAPI · AWS (SageMaker, EKS, ECR, S3, EC2) · Kinesis · Firehose · ElastiCache · Git · Splunk · Kafka · Helm · Terraform · Terragrunt

What You Bring

  • You dive into unfamiliar codebases and complex architectures without hesitation, quickly figuring out how systems connect and becoming productive on live services in short order.
  • You write clean, readable Python and understand how to build web services with frameworks like FastAPI, with a solid grasp of model inference logic, input and output contracts, and latency constraints.
  • You treat testing as an integral part of development rather than an afterthought, writing thorough unit and integration tests to ensure that every pull request protects production stability.
  • You are comfortable with version control and terminal workflows, and you are eager to get your hands dirty with cloud infrastructure like AWS, containerized deployments, and streaming or caching components.
  • When it comes to AI, you have restructured how you build and test software around AI tools, using them to accelerate implementation while holding a rigorous standard for code quality, edge case handling, and reliability.
