The Quality Inspector/Contoller plays a key role in upholding Pomerleau’s commitment to excellence by inspecting work completed on site, verifying compliance with project requirements, and helping ensure every deliverable meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for inspecting assigned construction activities to verify compliance with approved requirements, specifications, and quality standards.
- Independently monitors and inspects construction work throughout all phases of project execution.
- Reviews, analyzes, and applies execution documents, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and procedures, to perform quality inspections.
- Verifies that construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and applicable standards.
- Confirms that work is performed using the latest approved documentation.
- Completes and maintains inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation.
- Serves as the primary field contact for quality inspections and audits conducted by the Client or external parties.
- Conducts inspections required to release hold points and authorize progression of work.
- Maintains a daily site presence to identify, document, and address quality-related issues as construction activities progress.
- Documents observations and collaborates with technical and construction teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective measures.
- Participates in the investigation of non-conformances and supports the development, implementation, and follow-up of corrective actions.
- Ensures non-conformances affecting subsequent work activities are formally closed before construction proceeds.
- Verifies that internal quality control activities have been completed by the construction team.
- Supports the compilation and maintenance of quality records and turnover documentation for the Project Completion and As-Built files.
- Develops and maintains tracking tools, reports, and dashboards to monitor quality activities and project progress.
- Participates in pre-construction meetings, kickoff meetings, and toolbox talks related to assigned construction activities.
- Promotes quality, safety, and environmental compliance through continuous field presence and proactive engagement with project teams.
- Immediately notifies construction and quality management teams of any condition requiring intervention or opportunities for process improvement.
This role could be for you if you have
- University degree in engineering;
- Be a member of the EGBC;
- The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Hold a valid driver's license;
- Be available to work on the day or evening shift;
- Construction safety training certificate;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
