Lead Tape Operator (Entry Level)

Pomeroy Technologies has an immediate opening for an Entry-Level Lead Tape Operator at its Longueuil, Quebec site. The successful candidate will also provide coverage, as needed, at our Drummondville, Quebec location.

This is a full-time permanent position with benefits.

Position Requirements

The selected candidate will work primarily at our Longueuil, Quebec site and must also be available to work at our Drummondville, Quebec site when required.

The person in this role may be asked to work an alternative schedule that includes night shifts, weekends, and holidays to ensure adequate operational coverage.

The Ideal Candidate:

Is dependable and has access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
Is a Canadian citizen.
Possesses strong computer skills.
Has experience in data center operations (a significant asset).
Is available to participate in an on-call rotation for both sites according to the established schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Execute basic computer operator commands and report any issues to the site supervisor.

Support all operations staff in maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Understand all tape-mount requests and system messages.

Monitor available tape scratch pools and pending tape-mount requests.

Identify minor to moderate hardware failures and resolve most issues under the guidance or supervision of experienced personnel.

Understand and use communication and work tools, including telephone, email, tracking tools, fax, customer training tools, and other client-specific applications.

Conduct detailed searches for misplaced media when necessary and use appropriate tools and procedures to ensure recovery.

Provide constructive feedback to management and colleagues regarding shift rotations.

Stay informed of all ongoing activities and provide feedback when required.

Perform floor inspections to locate storage media when necessary, including searches beneath or above equipment, under raised floors, and in similar areas.

Exigences du poste

Le candidat sélectionné travaillera principalement à notre site de Longueuil (Québec) et devra également travailler à notre site de Drummondville (Québec) lorsque requis.

La personne occupant ce poste pourrait être appelée à travailler selon un horaire alternatif comprenant des quarts de nuit, les fins de semaine et les jours fériés afin d’assurer une couverture adéquate des opérations.

Fonctions et responsabilités

La personne embauchée sera responsable des tâches suivantes :

Exécuter les commandes de base des opérateurs informatiques et signaler tout problème au superviseur du site.
Soutenir l’ensemble du personnel des opérations afin de maintenir le plus haut niveau de satisfaction de la clientèle.
Comprendre tous les messages de montage et les messages système.
Surveiller les lots de bandes disponibles (« scratch pools ») et les messages de demande de montage de bandes en attente.
Identifier les défaillances matérielles mineures à modérées et résoudre la plupart des problèmes sous la direction ou la supervision du personnel expérimenté.
Comprendre et utiliser les outils de communication et de travail (téléphone, courriel, outils de suivi, télécopieur, outils de formation du client et autres outils spécifiques au client).
Effectuer une recherche détaillée des supports mal classés lorsque nécessaire et utiliser les outils de travail appropriés pour assurer leur récupération.
Fournir une rétroaction constructive à la direction et aux collègues concernant la rotation des quarts de travail.
Se tenir informé de toutes les activités en cours et fournir de la rétroaction au besoin.
Effectuer des inspections de plancher pour repérer les supports de stockage lorsque requis, ce qui peut inclure des recherches sous ou au-dessus des équipements, sous les planchers surélevés, etc.
