Role Overview (The “Why” of the Role)
Portage CyberTech is looking for a passionate Java Full Stack Developer, R&D-oriented, working on modern solutions in a microservices environment. The role involves backend and full stack development, with strong usage of AI-powered development tools (AI-assisted / agentic development) to accelerate design, coding, and overall software quality.
Core Responsibilities (What You’ll Actually Do)
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment
- Develop and maintain Java applications (Spring Boot, microservices)
- Contribute to full stack development (backend-focused, frontend as needed)
- Use AI development tools (copilots, agentic workflows, AI coding assistants) to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency
- Work closely with Product, QA, and DevOps teams
Required
Qualifications & Experience
- DEC or university degree in Information Technology, or equivalent experience in software development
- Minimum of 3 years of software development experience
- Methodical and well-organized
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills
- Comfortable communicating in English (spoken and written) in a professional environment
Technical & Domain Knowledge
- Java & Spring Boot: Development and deployment of scalable microservices
- AWS Cloud: ECS Fargate, EC2, Lambda, S3, ElastiCache and other AWS services
- Databases: MongoDB Atlas, PostgreSQL and MySQL (AWS Aurora)
- Messaging & Integration: RabbitMQ
- Identity & Security: Keycloak, Twilio and Entrust PKI
