Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced WebMethods Platform Administrator / Middleware Infrastructure Specialist to manage, administer, maintain, and optimize our enterprise WebMethods integration platform and its supporting infrastructure.

The candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end administration and operational management of WebMethods environments across Development, QA, UAT, and Production landscapes. This includes platform installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance optimization, security, monitoring, troubleshooting, and infrastructure lifecycle management.

The individual will serve as the primary technical owner of the middleware platform, ensuring high availability, reliability, scalability, security, and compliance with enterprise IT standards.

The role requires strong hands-on experience in WebMethods administration, Linux/Windows server administration, networking, infrastructure operations, security, and platform migration. The candidate will work closely with integration development teams, infrastructure, network, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. WebMethods Platform Administration

• Administer, configure, maintain, and support enterprise WebMethods environments.
• Manage the following WebMethods components:
• WebMethods Integration Server (IS)
• Universal Messaging (UM)
• My WebMethods Server (MWS)
• API Gateway
• Trading Networks
• Optimize (where applicable)
• Command Central (where applicable)
• Perform platform configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Manage packages, configurations, ports, keystores, certificates, and server connectivity.
• Ensure platform availability, stability, and operational efficiency.

2. Middleware Infrastructure & Operations

• Manage middleware infrastructure across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patches, hotfixes, and version management.
• Handle server provisioning, decommissioning, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Coordinate with infrastructure teams for CPU, memory, storage, and operating system management.
• Support infrastructure modernization, platform consolidation, and migration initiatives.

3. Security & Access Management

• Manage user accounts, roles, groups, permissions, and authentication mechanisms.
• Implement and maintain SSL/TLS certificates, keystores, truststores, and secure communication.
• Perform security hardening and vulnerability remediation.
• Coordinate security assessments, audits, and compliance activities.
• Work with cybersecurity teams to implement enterprise security policies and access controls.

4. Network & Connectivity Management

• Troubleshoot middleware connectivity and communication issues involving:
• Firewalls and network access controls
• VPNs and private connectivity
• Load balancers
• DNS and IP configurations
• SSL/TLS and certificate validation
• Reverse proxies
• External partner and third-party integrations
• Coordinate with network and infrastructure teams to resolve connectivity and communication issues.
• Analyze network-level failures and support end-to-end connectivity troubleshooting.

5. Incident, Problem & Production Support

• Provide Level 3 technical support for critical middleware and platform incidents.
• Perform log analysis, diagnostics, and root cause analysis.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of critical production issues.
• Identify recurring issues and implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in incident management, change management, and on-call support rotations.
• Ensure adherence to SLA and operational support commitments.

6. Platform Monitoring & Performance Management

• Configure and maintain platform and infrastructure monitoring solutions.
• Monitor system availability, resource utilization, message processing, and platform performance.
• Analyze application, server, and middleware logs.
• Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
• Prepare platform health checks, capacity reports, and availability reports.

7. Platform Migration & Transformation

• Lead and support WebMethods platform migration and upgrade initiatives.
• Support on-premises data center migrations and cloud transformation projects.
• Plan and execute platform upgrades, environment migrations, and infrastructure transitions.
• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, implementation, and testing.
• Develop migration plans, deployment procedures, validation checklists, and rollback strategies.
• Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.

8. Governance & Operational Excellence

• Establish platform administration standards, operational procedures, and best practices.
• Maintain platform configuration documentation and knowledge repositories.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and operational governance standards.
• Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and support teams.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in WebMethods platform administration and middleware infrastructure management.
• Strong practical experience administering:
• WebMethods Integration Server
• Universal Messaging
• API Gateway
• My WebMethods Server
• Experience with WebMethods installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Strong Linux and Windows Server administration skills.
• Experience managing enterprise middleware infrastructure across multiple environments.
• Good understanding of networking and infrastructure concepts:
• TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS
• SSL/TLS and certificate management
• Firewalls and VPNs
• Load balancers and reverse proxies
• Experience with platform monitoring, log analysis, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with disaster recovery, high availability, backup, and recovery procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills to work across application, infrastructure, and security teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and container-based middleware deployments.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as:
• Splunk
• Dynatrace
• AppDynamics
• Datadog
• Prometheus and Grafana
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.
• Software AG WebMethods certifications are an added advantage.
