We are currently looking for Maintenance Technician to join our Oakville team. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity that will be responsible for maintaining the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant systems and equipment.
This position performs corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance, provides advanced troubleshooting support, and works closely with Production to reduce downtime and keep equipment running efficiently.
This position operates on a weekly rotation of day (7am-3pm) and afternoon (3pm-11pm) shift basis and is eligible for shift premium.
Candidates must reside in Canada and be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship now or in the future.
Responsibilities
- Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on plant equipment and systems to maintain safe and reliable operation.
- Use advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical equipment and system issues, including Programmable Logic Controllers, control systems, sensors, and related equipment.
- Work closely with Production to support production requirements, reduce downtime, and maintain a high level of productivity.
- Train and coach other Maintenance employees to improve their skills, knowledge, and job performance.
- Monitor plant systems, equipment, and performance metrics to ensure safe and efficient operation and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support and drive the preventive and predictive maintenance program to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and maintenance issues in a timely manner.
- Execute mold changes and colour changes as required to support production schedules and ensure schedule adherence.
- Follow established safe work practices, procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Accurately complete work orders, maintenance records, and documentation, including recording parts and materials used.
- Support departmental spare parts inventory by accurately recording parts usage and communicating inventory needs.
- Promote continuous improvement and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Assist the Team Lead with day-to-day maintenance activities and priorities to help ensure a safe and productive shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as operational needs require.
Physical Demands
- Required to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Perform repetitive motions and continuous use of hands and wrists as required.
- Frequently bend, stoop, squat, push, and pull parts, equipment, and part containers.
- Due to the open warehouse environment, must be able to work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to carry, push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to work in an environment with varying levels of sound pressure and industrial noise.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, control systems, sensors, and related equipment.
- Technical training, certification or education in electrical/mechanical technology strongly preferred
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Ability to train, coach, and support other Maintenance employees.
- Good understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in stressful or time-sensitive situations.
- Ability and willingness to work all shifts.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as required, including during equipment breakdowns.
- Must be willing and able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
