Original job description
As an HSSE Advisor, you will provide a wide range of inspection, training, investigation, and auditing services to support the safe and efficient operation of our drilling activities. Working closely with field personnel and leadership, you will take a hands-on approach to promoting safe work practices, coaching and mentoring our crews, and strengthening our safety culture across the organization.
WHAT QUALITIES DO WE LOOK FOR?
This is a fast-paced, close-knit group, and we are looking for a dynamic, self-starter who can work within our Core Values of Safety, Respect, Accountability, Teamwork, and Performance Excellence.
We’re looking for someone who understands that effective safety leadership goes beyond policies and paperwork. The successful candidate will be approachable, proactive, and confident in their ability to build relationships with our field crews, provide practical guidance, and lead by example.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and promote safe work practices.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to field personnel to support continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
- Deliver safety orientations, training, toolbox talks, and other HSSE-related education.
- Participate in investigations, assist with root cause analysis, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Predator Drilling’s HSSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Monitor compliance with applicable provincial and federal legislation, industry standards, client requirements, and company policies.
- Assist field crews with hazard identification, risk assessments, safe work procedures, and required safety documentation.
- Provide environmental guidance and support compliance with applicable environmental requirements.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, statistics, and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with operations and field leadership to identify improvement opportunities and support safe, efficient drilling operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety role with an oil and gas drilling company.
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate; National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation would be considered an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable provincial and federal health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Excellent judgment and a genuine concern for the safety and well-being of others.
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities, with the confidence to engage and influence field personnel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to work in the office and travel to field locations, including working away from home for extended periods during the busy winter drilling season.
- A proactive, adaptable approach with a commitment to Predator Drilling’s Core Values.
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Comprehensive benefits program.
- Employer RRSP matching.
- Daily subsistence, where applicable.
- Opportunities for training, development, and upskilling.
- A welcoming, friendly, and close-knit work environment.
- The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to field safety and operational success.
If you’re a hands-on safety professional who enjoys working with field crews and wants to make a real impact during the winter drilling season, we want to hear from you.
