Original job description
Preston Phipps is looking for a technically curious, relationship‑driven sales engineer to support our growth across Central Canada. In this role, you’ll learn how to become a trusted advisor to contractors, consultants, and end users - helping them design, optimize, and maintain high‑performance mechanical systems in hospitals, universities, industrial plants, and research facilities.
If you’re early in your career, enjoy solving engineering challenges, and want to develop into a technical sales professional with strong mentorship and support, this role is built for you. You will work closely with experienced account managers, project delivery teams, and service teams as you build your technical and commercial capabilities.
What You’ll Own
- Support revenue growth within an established territory of contractors, consultants, and end users.
- Build foundational knowledge of customer mechanical systems, decision processes, and project cycles.
- Participate in technical discussions, design support, and product recommendations under guidance.
- Assist with takeoffs and interpretation of specifications, drawings, and schedules for project tenders.
- Help educate contractors on product applications and support them in winning projects.
- Assist end users in understanding system performance, safety, and lifecycle considerations.
- Collaborate with account managers to support multi‑location and national accounts.
- Develop strong relationships with Preston Phipps manufacturing partners and internal divisions.
- Prioritize in‑person meetings and field engagement as you build confidence and territory presence.
- Coordinate with service and project delivery teams to ensure smooth handoffs and accurate scope alignment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying workflow gaps and proposing practical enhancements.
- Demonstrate learning agility by quickly absorbing new technical information, product updates, and application knowledge.
What You Bring
- 2–4 years of technical sales, engineering, or field‑related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent technical education).
- Exposure to steam, hot water, hydronics, or laboratory critical air systems is an asset, but not required.
- Strong interest in developing technical sales skills: prospecting, qualifying, discovery, and closing.
- Excellent communication, follow‑up, and organizational discipline.
- High technical curiosity and problem‑solving ability.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, ask questions, and build territory activity.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with service, project coordination, and operations teams.
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
- Alignment with our values: Entrepreneurship, Integrity, Respect, Partnership, Success, Innovation.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary based on experience.
- Sales commission program.
- Company vehicle.
- Ownership program.
- Comprehensive benefits.
- Structured training, mentorship, and technical development from a 90‑year industry leader.
